Re: Gardner and Coltrane are coming down

The demolition for the two dorms has begun and will take the rest of the year to complete. This will become a surface parking lot and should make for a great tailgating lot close to the stadium. We’ve got another year or two before all this construction wraps up on the west side.....for now ;) http...

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game

ECU averaged in the mid-30Ks in 2019 for home games. App regularly gets 25 to 30K for decent opponents. The challenge for App is we don't know how the move to BofA stadium will impact the student attendance, but it's bound to decrease it somewhat. It might actually increase the other fan attendance...

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game

Odds on whether ECU fans out number App fans??? They are a bigger university and more living alumni but I am not sure how much Charlotte is a base for those alums versus staying in the eastern part of the state and Raleigh. Raleigh to Charlotte is a 2.5 hour drive at best and Greenville to Charlott...

Appalachian State student and 1977 Miss North Carolina Kathy Fleming did her Student Teaching at my high school (Elkin HS) and I had her for math. Man, it was hard to concentrate.

I can well imagine, especially at that age when the hormones are raging. lol

Re: Miss North Carolina

One year back in the mid to late '80's App had the MIss NC, 1st runner up and Miss Congeniality. In a high school assembly program when I was teaching, I was brought up on the stage and Miss North Carolina kissed me on the cheek in front of the whole student body. It couldn't have been good for her ...

Re: What are possible home on home series?

First off I think a potential solution to the whole playoff deal is for every P5 to play 8 conference games then 2 other P5’s and 2 G5’s for their non-conference games. The G5’s would play 8 conference games then the 2 P5’s and 2 other G5 non-conference games. Nobody plays FCS except possibly for S...

Re: Keith Gill Contract Extension

I'd like to see him negotiate with ESPN so that no Sun Belt Team has to play more that (1) game out of the (12) games on a weekday night. All of the teams remaining (11) Football Games and Conference Championship Game would be played on Saturdays. It guarantees all teams will have at least (5) Satu...

Re: What are possible home on home series?

I think there's Sun Belt bylaws that don't allow for a member school to play an FCS away game. I don't know the present rules, but when we first moved up, according to some posts on this message board, an FBS team could not play an away game at an FCS ' home. My question is, could we play at a neut...

East Carolina’s decline coincided with the elevation of App State, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte and Liberty to FBS.

Re: ECU website preview of Appalachian

The question marks surrounding our offense are valid and I see no reason they shouldn't have hope, but the purported talent disparity between an AAC school like ECU and a SBC East team is a bona fide myth. The last three years of out of conference play from the SBC/AAC has shattered this illusion. ...

Remember when Woodlands would sell sandwiches at the football games?
Contract with Pepsi wouldn't let us sell tea to go with them, but somehow we sell beer.

Re: Any “real” journalism on the USC situation.

This was the original report based on the amended contract, which has no spin. App agreed to change the contract for two more guarantee games worth $3.9 million and push the "home and home" back to 2033-34 . https://fbschedules.com/south-carolina-appalachian-state-modify-add-two-games-to-future-ser...

Re: ECU game in Charlotte

Random question: shall I go ahead & get tickets now around $90-100 each, or wait until week before & hope prices drop down? Just call the ticket office and support App State Athletics! Do it knowing that you are helping your school rather than getting one from someone that had a few extras a few da...
