Why Did App State Baseball Loose This Guy

Stephen Schoch is the most exciting player in college baseball right now. Before playing for Virginia he played for UMBC and us.

Why did we lose this guy?

Missouri State to the Sun Belt?

A surprisingly under the radar news story here: Missouri State has hired Bobby Petrino to be their next football coach. This is the kind of move you make if you are serous about trying about moving up to the FBS (go out and get a big name coach surrounded by controversy for the purpose getting to th...

Re: Panthers Hire Baylor’s Matt Rhule

Someone help me with my Western Carolina trivia. Matt Rhule spent several years as Western and was the AHC in 2005 which is often times a coach in waiting position. The head coach at the time was Kent Briggs who went on to be a high school coach at Cherokee HS. Matt Rhule leaves to be a position coa...

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer

I posted this on another thread but I would like to see Tim Horton get an interview. I remember reports about him interviewing for the job when Jerry Moore was moved along and reports were he interviewed really well, had a good plan, and probably finished 2nd in the interview process. He would also ...

Re: Who stays, who goes?

Has this thread become the defacto coaching thread. I'm not here advocating for Ted Roof but he is only 55. Isn't his profile kind of similar to Jerry Moore's when he was hired here? Has anyone discussed Tim Horton as a possibility. I remember reports about him interviewing for the job when Jerry Mo...

Throwing some wood on this dream fire, Kyle Bonagura thinks we are going to the Belk Bowl:

Re: Early: possible replacements?

I know people don't like these kind of autonomous sources but I know Ruffin McNeill was privately talking with some NC sports reporters about the job with weekend. Take that for what you want. It also doesn't mean App State has any interest talking to him. I think McNeill is a great coach that built...

Hotest Act in the CFL?

Vince Young has reportedly signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders the same team where Armanti Edwards is in the 2nd year what I believe to be a 2 year contract. Armanti has been productive for the Roughriders but hasn't been their top WR. Still I think Armanti could be playing an important roll in...

Re: By the skin of our teeth...

Nationally ranked Toledo had a scare against UMass last week and UMass is probably as bad as the worst team in the Sun Belt. A State had a close game at home against Georgia State (Troy's a better team that Georgia State). One of the biggest knocks on App was that they hadn't had a game that mattere...

Re: We are legit

Toledo is loosing right now to 1 win UMass. Yes that UMass. The team so bad their conference kicked them out.

If Toledo doesn't stage a pretty nice comeback that's one less team between us and a New Years Bowl.

How about a Hall of Fame Museum similar to what Furman and a lot of other schools have.

I also want screens in the convocation center. Gardner Webb and Elon both have screens and we don't.

Re: It's Rivalry Week!!!!!

We open in Vegas as 6 point favorites. You normally get 3 points for being the home team. I think this could really be a thriller. The only shared opponent we've had is ULM and in my opinion we both played them about the same. It's not that one of us beat them down better than the other. Also rememb...

congratulations to Shawn Elliott. It's nice to see another App State guy serving as head coach even if it is just for an interim period. Shawn Elliott's name came up for the App State job when Scott Satterfield was hired although he didn't offically interview for it. There's a real chance Coach Sat...

Re: Let's tawk Warhawks

We opened as an 8.5 point favorite in Vegas. For a conference game against 2 teams that you would think would be competitive that's a big lead for a team playing on the road. Typically a home team is given 3 points. The line has now drifted up to 11. So it seems like the wise-guys think we are going...

Re: Video of GSU press conference

You guys are being way too picky. This is the first Sunbelt coach from a team we beat soundly who gave complete credit to us. He said they prepared for the pass but couldn't execute. His comments regarding our rushing attack seemed to be mainly focused on Marcus. And he qualified those statements b...
