Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion

I may have posted this before, but I truly believe kids showing up to AppState without the adequate clothing for cold weather plays a role in whether someone likes AppState. The cold is easy to deal with if you have the right gear/clothing but if you are walking around in a lot of cotton without wa...

Re: 2024 Schedule

Clemson projected to top of ACC, we won't be playing a weak Hole team. I'm guessing we will be at least a 2 TD underdog. Yea I know , Michigan and A&M...any given Saturday.... blah blah blah. Not saying we are going there to take an ass whipping and a paycheck. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/othe...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Numerous transfers, every year , is the new reality. If we had $500k for NIL it would be different perhaps, but we don’t and it isn’t. CJ said he was coming back and working out about every day but if someone offers him $100k ??? A football coach told me that we will know who we have in August. Bask...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

I see one common factor in all the transfers: the coaches. Many of you have waxed on about NIL and whatnot, but in the end, relationships are very important and in some cases more important than money It was pointed out very early how together this team was. Could it be that they were together agai...

Mantis to Maine.
Abson to Georgia. Good for him. I'm sure they gave him some coin.
He won't be alone either. I was accepted into a graduate program at UGA on Monday. Maybe we can be friends!
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I was the deciding factor for Abson.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Abson >>>>Xavier may be just a visit. He’s milking it! Crystal balled to UGA by a few insiders. Can we get UGA on the schedule? Winnable and probably could get a good App crowd from Greenville/Atlanta. Winnable? Sure. However, UGA is by no means a bad team. They faded down the stretch in conference...

Re: Two minute warning, helmet comm approved

College is so painfully far behind on incorporating technology to the sport. Better communication leads to less miscommunication on plays that lead to busted plays that lead to injuries. Put the mics in all the helmets so position coaches can talk to the players between posessions. This could lower...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

I think it is important for posts about where players go and how much so the App-Fan-Base gets an idea of what we are up against and what is needed to compete. Agreed. And while I think some folks are going a bit overboard, I like to know where our former guys are going because I LIKE our former gu...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Too many moving parts with the portal and the NIL. We will just have to be happy with what coaches cobble together until some entity gets some control on this mess. It’s so wild too, because it isn’t just smaller schools like App. Alabama just went to the Final Four, and their coach signed a new co...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Depends on the scenario for me and who they go to. If they go to any other conference member, UNC, ECU, or Charlotte, I’d hope they fail. I wouldn’t be happy if they went to Duke, Wake or State, but I wouldn’t hope for their failure. Also depends on why they are leaving. For instance, in Xavion’s c...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Abson visiting Georgia. Once he sees that bar scene, he might bite. No pun intended. He would pair well with the McDonalds AA incoming Freshman Forward/Center. For me, personally, I'd like this because I live nearby and could go see him play. If a coach can come to UGA and lock down the basketball ...

Re: Second ever App state game

The best place to buy tickets is through the App State athletics website. If they sell out, I'd try to find people on here selling their tix. Stubhub/Vivid Seats would be my last option. Don't do anything through Facebook. That place is rife with scammers. And if you're beer drinkers, all of the bre...

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach

I’ll just put it all out there. YOLO Marshall WBB went and spent 60k for two recruits through NIL. That’s 30k a pop. That’s the going rate. (Janay Sanders got 25k to go to Minnesota.) The Marshall AD rolled out the red carpet for her and prioritized WBB. Caldwell’s husband was given a job on the me...

Re: Report Card - Dustin Kerns

Denver shows up to parties late and snicker bars the pool. No offseason issues before this one, no academics issues. It’s truly fascinating how someone can’t have anything nice to say about the people who coach for the school that he, ostensibly, roots for. It’s also GLARINGLY obvious that he waits...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Quick search about alumni earnings UNC-CH vs App. This was a quick search so it may or may not be precise but I think it reasonably summarizes the point and passes the sniff test. Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Look at UNC last night in the 2nd half - 2 Roy recruits (Bacot & Davis), transfers - Ryan 7 years in college - Ingram - 3 years - Withers - 4 years and Wojack - grad from Brown --- Hubert's recruits on the bench - Hole fans are livid - funny as hell --- Hubert has won the games he won over 3 years ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

I don't suspect that Kerns would leave for another Sun Belt school (JMU), but he sure seemed to have love for them in his postgame press conference when we played them up there. He went on and on about how great their facilities are and how they've "always been good" (not true). I could see Charles...
