Re: App State hires new assistant GM
It is a very interesting dilemma that is headed to an impasse. In the end, I believe that Title IX is going to win and here’s why. Both the Sherman Act and Title IX are federal law and they are tied to two completely different aspects of the law. The difference is that violating Title IX has a puni...

Re: Title IX Lawsuits
Most people I've heard don't think House is enforceable because it imposes a salary cap and forces revenue sharing, neither of which were collectively bargained. The DOJ has already made rumblings that they don't think House is legal. I hate the mess that it is. I really don't want to see Olympic s...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
No one was complaining. What you took as complaining was in fact the reality of the current situation. Because it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, you called it complaining, or as others have used the term “excuses”. The “ideas” that you were asking for weren’t what you wanted to hear. To keep thing...

Re: Title IX Lawsuits
The Title IX lawsuits were inevitable. But they aren't going to force anything other than counter lawsuits from the revenue producers because if Title IX applies to revenue distribution then it is directly contradictory to the Sherman Antitrust Act. There can be no sharing of revenue that isn't an ...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
OK. So, what ideas do YOU have (that don’t involve gutting every other sport or violating Title IX six ways from Sunday) to cure the budget ills of App State Football? I am not the one who complained. I have been the one asking others for ideas. A lot of tough decisions are going to be made. I don'...

Re: Title IX Lawsuits
Regardless of the twists and turns we encounter with college sports, the attorneys continue to win…and get paid. That can end with the antitrust and CBA. My only question is how long until we get there. I still don't think non-revenue sports and especially women's sports are going to like the end i...

It's a message board. If you do not want responses, put it in your personal Facebook page. Grow up If you think we do not make enough money, give more yourself. I welcome adult responses any time but I think lame jokes that we would have told in high school is beneath us after we are 21 years old. ...

Great App State Follow
I mentioned in another thread but we have a student at App named Weston Scambler who is doing a great job of putting out App State news on Twitter. Moose is our recruiting king but we need to also show support to another of our own in Weston Scambler. I suspect he has some connection within the foot...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
What people do not really understand is that athletics provides an opportunity to get a college degree that would not otherwise have that opportunity. What people do not understand most is that athletics is advertisement for a school. Think about the notoriety that beating Michigan brought to Appal...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
The financials provided above are pretty clear. All of the teams are a fiscal money pit. Yes people are going to pick football and men’s basketball over all of the others. That’s not a flex when pretty much everyone in America would say the same thing. The point that is being made is the revenue is...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
The solution is to cut athletics, but no one wants to say that part out loud. Instead, they want to keep pretending that there is some way to run a department and pay a staff all while bringing in significantly less than we spend, and there is, on the backs of donors who have been told to shut up a...

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
Good move for Texas St, PAC is definitely a stronger conference, congrats Bobcats. Now the SBC should be patient, bringing in LA Tech that hit their ceiling 20 years ago would be a missed opportunity. Agreed. There are several programs on the rise out there that I think would be even more clear to ...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
I brought her up because she spends a lot of money a time fundraising for women’s sports. She does not give enough to fund them. It is not the responsibility of any donor to fund a budget for a sport. Donations are subsidies given out of generosity. There isn’t a single sport at App, including foot...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
You are missing my point. The revenue generated from ticket sales doesn’t cover the football budget. So to your point, it can’t sustain itself so it must be gone. But here is the link for the 2023 year. Ticket sales across the department didn’t cover the football budget. https://finops.appstate.edu...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
Couldn't DLo do this job in addition to HC responsibilities and serving drinks on the sidelines? I simply offered something as a way to lower costs to those of you complaining that we don't make enough money and saying maybe we can find ways to lower the budget. No need to make a lame joke about ev...
