Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Who expects Wilson to start next year? I have heard that Wilson is working hard and he expects to earn the job. Maybe our staff does not expect it but it is still early and in this new era a QB is just not going to sit the bench for 3 years to wait anymore. I remember that the staff was nervous abo...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
How much time is allocated to the development of the 4th string QB? Wright was listed as projected second string after the spring so I am guessing the QB 3-deep now is Aguilar, Hernandez, and Wilson. Correct? Estep might be QB2 based off practice squad play. We will find a portal guy though. Only 2...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Boy, he sure didn't last long on the mountain. You would think that a kid that spent 3 years at Texas would have come to Boone in much better position to compete (for a backup position) than what evidently occurred. I mean, Sark is supposed to be a qb whisperer type of oc and coach. Of course, now ...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Looks like App is losing one...I'll let the good people of the YC look for it and watch the panic level go to 10 on here. Gotta go get my popcorn. This is gonna be better that Netflix tonight. Charles Wright is not listed on the roster so we definitely need to add 1 more QB in this cycle. I just ho...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Portal opens tomorrow. Let’s find a few Mountaineers! If they took my viewpoint point, they should be beating down the door to play at APP. Looks like App is losing one...I'll let the good people of the YC look for it and watch the panic level go to 10 on here. Gotta go get my popcorn. This is gonn...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
As of now, Spillers in position to start at the 4 for Wake next year. All but one big has entered the portal for them. Crap rolls downhill, so I suppose the amount you receive is merely determined by your altitude. Indeed. Pretty much every school has lost a player they don't want to lose because o...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
Referring to Everts stepping down? Just got email newsletter where she informed UNC System President she is stepping down. I had heard this would happen in May or June so this is an early gift and I expect the BOT to make sure we get someone who puts athletics on equal footing with academics. I am ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I understand that NIL is a problem and it is easy to assume that these kids are making the decisions to leave. Keep in mind that isn’t always the case and sometimes these decisions to leave are encouraged for the betterment of everyone. That is true and I believe many are thinking their playing day...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I know that most of them grew up in tough circumstances and the money will be sent home . My concern is that the money will be gone in a year or two and the kid will have no degree to fall back on. I would feel a lot better if they graduated then transferred to cash out. The new system incentivizes...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Am I the only one that isn't going to pull for players when they leave App? I'm not rooting against them, but I don't feel any lingering ties to a player that transfer. I'll caveat that with the exception of grad transfers. I am with you. If they have a degree I will pull for them but I don't feel ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
We are talking about amateur athletes getting paid $25-$100k (on top of a $25k scholarship and $6k stipend annually) to play in front of maybe 5k people and on ESPN+ with less than 30k viewers. I recommend reading that sentence out loud to realize how crazy and unsustainable this is for anyone outs...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
The lower level athletes will struggle or become extinct before the power conferences feel any level of “hurt”. Unintentional consequences Indeed. A big reason many of us warned about this pay to play stuff. Many issues have popped up that were not intended to happen but that is why it is always sm...
