The team announced DJ was signed to the active roster. On the 53! He take Tolbert's spot, who was placed on short term IR.

I'm really hoping with all the injuries mounting across the NFL that some team will give Armanti another shot --- Never a fumble in his NFL career and the Panthers next newest return "star" fumbled and cost them 7 ---

He was last in the league in punt return average for a full season. Teams aren't going to fall over themselves to sign him just because he didn't fumble. They want a punt returner who's actually good at returning punts.

I disagree here - some teams, especially those with robust offenses, just want the ball - when was the last time you saw a Patriot or Bronco or fill in the blank return a punt? - yes, additional yardage is a plus but a fumble gives the other team almost assuredly 7 points (3 at least) --- Don't know if AE was last in the league with yardage - I believe it was something like 5.5 yards, but he was FIRST in the league in fumbles lost - 0 -

Julian Edelman of the Patriots is averaging 12.6 yards on 7 returns so far this season.

Broncos are struggling there this year but will probably put Welker back there when he returns (last year they had Trindon Holiday, who returned punts and kickoffs and was pretty good at both).

If any team wants Armanti as its PR, I'm sure they know where to find him.

But if you're going to be a below-average return man who just doesn't fumble, you better be able to contribute on offense or defense too. Teams value versatility, or they value a specialist who's really good at one thing.

I'd love to see him get another shot. Unfortunately, I think the fact that he's not on a roster right now suggests that you overestimate how much teams value his ability to not fumble.

But I think we digress...

Congrats to DJ. Hope he gets a chance to see the field for Carolina and does well. They must like him to use the roster spot on him, considering it's running back where they're really hurting at the moment.
