Apps in Canada

Unread post by MtnDevil95 » Sat Oct 25, 2014 8:40 am

Mark LeGree has been with the Saskatchewan Roughriders all season. He's playing on the 2 deep behind the league's best defensive back and has recorded 4 interceptions (returning for a total 87 yards) and 1 fumble recovery.

On Thursday, the Riders signed running back/returner Steven Miller. Miller played last night, only had 1 carry for a loss, and returned 3 kicks for 42 yards. Seeing playing time in slightly over 24 hours after being signed has got to be a good sign.

The Roughriders are the defending Grey Cup Champions, and started the 18 game season at 8-2. Starting QB Darian Durant (formerly UNC CHeat) suffered a shoulder injury in the 11th game and the Riders have stumbled through 1-6 in the last 7. They have secured playoff spot (easy to do in a 9 team league) and play the last game of the season in Saskatchewan on November 8. Durant is expected to return for the playoffs.

For reference, I watch most Rider games on ESPN3, my father-in-law was their starting center from 1967 - 1978, and my wife is a big fan.

In his second game with the Roughriders, Steven Miller had 11 rushes for 71 yards, and 2 kick returns for 23 yards. The Riders beat the Edmonton Eskimos 24-17 and will face that same team next Sunday for the Western Semi-Finals in their attempt at back-to-back Grey Cups.

Mark LeGree has been nominated for the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie award. LeGree signed with the Riders as free agent in March, 2014…has played 13 regular season games…is tied for the team lead with four interceptions…has also added six special teams tackles, three defensive tackles, one knockdown and one fumble recovery…last Roughrider to win Outstanding Rookie was Weston Dressler in 2008.

Apologies for the double post, but the Roughriders v. Eskimos game is on ESPN2 next Sunday at 4:30EST.

Maybe the best fans in CFL too. Very much like Green Bay.
