All 3 head coaches at the time AE was signed have all been fired - Faux in Carolina, Chedzinski in Cleveland and now Tressman in Chicago --- just an interesting tidbit ---

So are you saying that Armanti is a coach killer?

I think it speaks to how he wasn't put in the best coaching situations. Sadly with the say the salary cap works in the NFL now it is unlikely he will be given a good chance to develop into a good player.

I really think if he had been put in a different situation where he would be given the time and support to develop he would still be on a team today and might be a star.

Armanti was the best college player I have seen at ASU in my many years of following the Apps. The pro game is a much different game though. Despite the coaching handicap at Carolina, Armanti did not show me much in his limited NFL role including his preseason work and his punt return duties one year. Two other teams also gave him a chance. Personally, I wish Armanti would have played in Canada which was more suited for his game. However, he needed to earn his NFL playing time in 3+ settings.

Using objectivity, you are most probably correct

But as fans sometimes we override objectivity --- I did feel that with Cleveland he was possibly on his way to get significant playing time, the day he got hurt he had played WR and caught a pass, had played QB and ran an option and returned a couple of punts - in fact, I believe he was hurt after about a 20 yard punt return ---
There are many NFL stars who got a chance to play because they were at the right place at the right time --- and many would-be NFL players who never made it for numerous reasons including not getting a true opportunity ---

There are two stats that I believe are completely misleading. One is sacks. Cam Newton was sacked once last Sunday for a two yard loss. I don't know but I assume it was meaningless considering the outcome. If a sack is followed up by a first down the impact is meaningless. The other stat that seemed to doom AE in Charlotte was punt return yardage. Just checked the final regular season NFL stats. There were 7 punt return TD's (not that many) and the guys ranked about 15 in avg yards per return were at about 8 yards per return. IMO that ain't that great. I believe AE was at about 4 yards per return his last season in Charlotte. I think that there are several factors that need to come into play- average yards where the punt catch is made, average hang time by the punt, etc. If I'm not mistaken nearly every punt AE caught was deep in Carolina territory and I believe he had no muffed or fumbled punts. I don't know if AE would have ever done anything significant in the league but I still think he has the tools to be a servicable player. I really have not seen a huge upgrade with Brentsen Bersin (spelling). He is an okay player but not a huge upgrade.

And Fox went to the Super Bowl last year in Denver, so what's your point?

Fox was out of Carolina with our without AE.

Chud is just another example of why Cleveland sucks as an organization when it comes to coaching hires

Tresman was a joke hire as well

I think it says just as much about AE that no perennially successful teams wanted to sign him
