P4 9 game conference schedules

Can we go ahead and collect the SCar buyout money this year?
NCSU, if it happens in 2028, will be the last P4 home game at KBS.
All those programs will now have 2 buyout home games as conference push one P4 OOC game as a next step.

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
I’m betting the other cartel conferences will follow.
If that the case, our home game against N.C. State in 2028 is in peril.
State will want to drop one of its road out-of-conference games, leaving it with a choice between dropping us or East Carolina.
09/02 - at East Carolina
09/16 - Vanderbilt
09/23 - Campbell
09/30 - at Appalachian State
I’m guessing State would prefer to keep the ECU game because the date is more preferable and the Wolfpack and Pirates have a long history of competition. I’m also guessing our buyout is considerably higher than ECU’s. So, since money is what motivates the college football world these days, we might have a chance to keep our game. We’d probably need to move the date to the weekend of Sept. 2. If that’s the case, and that’s a big if, then I would think our home game with Western Carolina may need to move.
09/02 - Western Carolina
09/16 - Charlotte
09/23 - at Toledo
09/30 - NC State

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
They will likely drop Campbell. My understanding is the the P4 schools will trend away from FCS opponents.

They'll drop us before they lose a home gate, 100%. Or maybe they drop both us and them and replace them both with home dates against G6 schools.

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
The ACC is going to have to get creative. I read an article last night that says it is mathematically impossible for a 17 team conference to play a 9 game conference schedule. They are considering counting the games against Notre Dame as ACC games. Nevertheless, they have to come up with something or they can't do it.

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
"On Wednesday we wear Pink!" and if you don't wear pink you can't be in our clique...The P4 have offically become "The Plastics" clique from Mean Girls
Firstly this anti-competitive and secondly it produce stale and unwanted matchups. For the larger, richer blue bloods like Texas, Alabama, etc they will be OK playing the NC States & Purdues of CFB but the NC States & Purdues will miss the match up against neer peer instituions.
Why?...
1. If the NC States/Purdues agree to play Texas/Alabama its an automatic loss which will hurt their already slim chances of making the CFP.
2. Initially the matchups are cool. Then the fanbases realize they're gonna lose, they won't travel to the games and then they lose their appeal.
3. Outside of the top 15 or so teams fanbases like seeing more regionally based match ups...especially when the team is not a dumpster fire i.e NC State v App/ECU
This decision by the blue bloods will lead to a "super conference" of 30 teams that bascially include the core of the SEC/Big10 and some outliers in the ACC & Big 12 i.e Texas Tech, Utah, BYU, 1 team from Arizona, Clemson, FSU, 1 team from VA, Probably SMU (They'll buy their way in), 1 team from NC (probably UNC b/c of brand recognition alone).

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
They should 100% drop FCS games first. That level has been so watered down outside of a few teams. That would be one way to throw a bone to schools committed to FBS after being shafted in most ways.

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
Normally I would agree. My understanding is that there will be a mandate that they stop playing FCS schools so what you are suggesting is possible. I could see them dropping Campbell, and paying us to move the game to Raleigh.rbarthle17 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 10:37 amThey'll drop us before they lose a home gate, 100%. Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
They'll continue paying the G6 just enough to be a productive farm system.
I am going to enjoy watching the lower half of the P4 regret this decision in a decade or so.

You left out the best part of the article.appst89 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 10:51 amThe ACC is going to have to get creative. “We have the highest-rated academic schools of any Power Four conference. We’ll figure it out,” the AD said.

I don't think it will take a decade for regret to set in, probably more like 3-5 years in most cases.

In my experience the most ignorant take the longest to realize what is evident to most. :D

Re: P4 9 game conference schedules
ECU/NCSTATE ticket is a tough one to get and it is a Thursday night. My son is at ECU and he and his friends are having a tough time finding anything affordable for them.
My point is, it is ashamed TV has ruined the in person experience by having these country wide conferences. I bet you can get a ticket for 20 bucks when Stanford comes to (NCSTATE)town.
