"Committee for 125, a group formed to help East Tennessee State University plan for its future, listened to recommendations from six task forces today, and one of those recommendations included football.

The athletic task force recommended football return to campus.

The goal of Committee for 125 is to help map ETSU's course for growth through 2036.

Today it heard from six task forces that made suggestions about plans in academics, health sciences, student life, athletics, extramural resources, culture and outreach.

When asked about football at ETSU, Dr. Brian Noland, President of ETSU, said, "It's about starting rather than restoring."

Also on the agenda: a performing arts center. Dr. Noland said he hopes by July 2014 this project is "shovel ready." The school hopes to build the center on the lot next to the Millenium Centre.

Another task force also suggested getting details of a 5 year plan for a dental school at ETSU.

The suggestions given by the task forces do not necessarily mean they will become adopted by the university.

We'll have more on the presentations made to Committee for 125 tonight beginning at 5."
