Tied at 10-10 at the half, the third quarter opens with back-to-back brutal calls by the Big Sky Conference officiating crew, one for each side. Then the Sam Houston quarterback makes another poor throw that results in an interception.

Although I'm pulling for Sam Houston, the smart money is on North Dakota State.

North Dakota State uses the pick and its patented ground game to drive for a score. The Bison lead 17-10 midway in the third quarter.

Sam Houston State may have gotten a break. The Bearkats' quarterback is hurt. He appears to have taken one in the coconuts, but smart SHSU fans have to hope it's more serious. The flaker is a better threat from the wildcat position.

Sam Houston State is in full meltdown mode now.

North Dakota State headed in for another score.

Touchdown NDSU, plus a two-point conversion off a botched snap on the kick.

It's all Bison in the third quarter, 25-10 with about two minutes left in the quarter.

Sam Houston State cuts the deficit to 25-13 on a short field goal with about 14 minutes left. Unfortunately, the Bearkats needed more than three points. The SHSU quarterback continues to struggle against a stout North Dakota State defense. If we can't land Wofford's DC, can we please talk to NDSU's.

North Dakota State applies the coup de grace, quickly scoring seven on an amazing drive of power, passes and trick plays.

NDSU leads 32-13 with 10:13 left.

SHSU quarterback is out with another injury.

Meanwhile, the Bearkats' backup quarterback trips over his own shoelaces with 35 yards of open space in front of him.

Two plays later, a horrible pass results in a NDSU interception.

Game all but over.

Congrats to North Dakota State for winning its second straight FCS national championship. The best team in the subdivision showed why today.

A shot to the family jewels is serious enough.

39-13 Bison. Complete domination by NDSU who are going to wrap up their 10th national championship overall and 2nd in FCS. 10-1 playoff record.

And they bring back just about everyone next year. Scary. :?

Setting us up to put a dramatic end to their attempt to win three in a row next year.

We should be a sure bet to make a deep run into the play-offs with Jamal and our host of quality receivers in addition to better line play on both sides of the ball...not to mention the changes in the coaching staff that everybody seems to think we have coming ...and on board.

Could very well be, but I seem to recall Sparky Woods having a one and done or two and he is revered by many on this board.

If we announce before July we are moving up in 2014 we won't be eligible for the playoffs next year, right?
