It was mentioned in another post yesterday about NDs record playing in "Big games" - the 6 games and now 7 --- Actually 8 if the ACC Championship game is added

"The Irish fell to 0-7 in BCS or New Year's Six bowl games since 1998 and have been outscored by 161 points, with all seven losses by at least 14 points. "

Here’s a full breakdown:
2000 - Oregon St - L 41-9
2005 - Ohio St - L 34-20
2006 - LSU - L 41-14
2012 - Alabama - L 42-14
2015 - Ohio St - L 44-28
2018 - Clemson - L 30-3
2021 - Alabama - L 31-14

The College Football Playoff committee chose to put the Fighting Irish in this game over No. 5 Texas A&M. That decision came after Notre Dame lost to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, 34-10.

It’s a joke. I wonder if Rudy got in once the game was decided. That being said would Texas A&M have fared any better?

If ND had to play a full home and home schedule in the SEC they would never sniff the playoffs ever again - they would have a very hard time in other conferences as well -

ND didn't deserve to be there. But neither did TAMU. There really isn't a "Fourth" best team this year, whoever played Bama yesterday was going to be cannon fodder. The "committee" should have had the foresight to know this and put Cincy in. Cincy would not have faired better but at least the "committee" could say "hey we rewarded the best G5 team this year, we are not a complete sham!".

ACC continuing to drop that goose egg thanks to another disappearing act by the cardiac pack.
