An eye-opening stat

I get these sport blubs from WVU - this one really caught my attention ---
On this date in 1960, West Virginia beat George Washington 101-79 - in the game Jerry West scored 29 points and pulled down 31 Rebounds :o

That is an eye-opener! 31 of anything, in basketball, is certainly impressive!

At 6-3 he was one of the taller people on the court back in his day. Add in his hops and you can see why he averaged 16 reb a game that year.

This picture wasn't from the game mentioned earlier but I was there right behind the basket - there was a stage and some buds and I were able to sit right on the edge of the stage - really great memories --- VMI would play WVU at the Bluefield Auditorium every year for a number of years ---

If you don't know the early life story of Mr .NBA it's worth a look.I had a very few icons growing up , he was one.I had , of course , no idea at that time what he had overcome.
