JMU is concerning.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
Their secondary is subpar, but it really gets covered up nicely by their front 7. It’s absolute chaos around the LOS.
They’ve been so well coached on either side of the line, and don’t put themselves in bad spots.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
I just watched the first half, first I’ve watched JMU this season. South Alabama looks absolutely awful, although they started to find their footing in the second quarter (until the pick six). JMU was also on the fortunate end of some significant calls (and no-calls) but have still managed to get called for a few pretty dumb penalties. They do have a nice, balanced offense and their tackling has been excellent. The biggest thing I notice is how confident their guys look out there.
With all that said, it’s still very early in the season but they don’t look like a better team than Wyoming and I think UNC would smoke them. Not really that concerned about them at this point.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
Dukes have an elite run D. USA has -2 rushing yards at half. Tough to contain the QB, McCloud, he’s got 74 of their 89 on the ground. Agree on some non-calls going JMU’s way but it’s something most every team must overcome.
Side note: UAB up 20-14 on Tulane start of 3rd

MN beating ULL 28-17 early in the 4th. If you want to translate from UNC beating MN.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
WYO down early to a below average NM team 2-6. They did block the extra point so picking up where they left off.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
Dawgs undoubtably deserve the #1 spot after going back-back, but they are constantly playing with their food. Will they be able to snap out of this vs playoff teams?

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
JMU 13-3 in two years since joining the much better Sun Belt and FBS. Aren't killing it with big names in the portal either, and probably still playing with some guys that were recruited in their FCS days.
Still not bowl/conference eligible, but good enough to be in both. Will be interesting after this year if Cignetti starts getting offers he can't refuse, and current AD is retiring. What that could mean for them in the future.
As for now, while I dislike them, got to respect what they've been able to do.

Re: 9/30 Other Scores
JMU has over 25 players from the portal and their starting QB is from the Arizona. What G5 is getting many, if any, "Big Names" from the portal. Most, if not all "Big Names" in the portal are going to other P5 schools./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 3:40 pmJMU 13-3 in two years since joining the much better Sun Belt and FBS. Re: 9/30 Other Scores
I wasn't aware of this. For some reason I thought it was only one season of being conference champ and bowl game ineligible (last year). Do you have a source for this? I only ask because I want to share this with someone else./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 3:40 pm
