The courts are methodically ripping up the ncaa a piece at a time.

Sounds like 3 times or more per year. If someone challenges it in court they will lose. We might get trades/transfers like in Baseball in the middle of the season.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 7:47 pmSo basically any college athlete can transfer every year if they wish?
It’s like any other student. Now hopefully schools uphold their academic requirements for transfer.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 7:47 pmSo basically any college athlete can transfer every year if they wish?
Exactly, nothing will be off limits. It will be even a bigger mess than it already has become, eventually Congress will have to act and give them the anti trust exemption.VNova wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 8:44 pmIt’s like any other student. I’m surprised no one has tried to go after eligibility years recently. If I can be in undergrad for 7 years….well why can’t an athlete participate in an extracurricular activity all 7 years they’re in undergrad
Agreed, and tell me a sport, that pays players, is Uber successful, that ISNT the highest level of that sport? triple A baseball, CFL/XFL, American Hockey League, G League? College football/Basketball has arrived at the beginning of the end. People will still watch, but in a decade or so, never like it once was, watch and see. Greed kills.appalum2003 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 9:42 pmcollege football is dead, anyway
can't wait to watch the same rich schools buy championship after championship
kid from Ole Miss showed up recently in a Lambo
money + unlimited transfer potential = professional sport
I think you are…….RIGHTAppOrange wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 11:13 pmAgreed, and tell me a sport, that pays players, is Uber successful, that ISNT the highest level of that sport? triple A baseball, CFL/XFL, American Hockey League, G League? Congress should not be involved in sports.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 2:51 pmExactly, nothing will be off limits. The problem is that without an anti trust exemption, they can't self govern because it is an unlawful monopoly as the Supreme Court has ruled. So that leaves only 2 options, an anti trust exemption (think MLB) or a collective bargaining situation (think NFL). To accomplish collective bargaining would take a significant effort and even then its hard to see how a "student athlete group/union" could effectively represent all the different types of sports and divisions throughout colleges sports. I generally agree with you, Congress should not be involved in sports but I really see it as the most practical way to return a level of governance to the NCAA. Without it, we all see what's going on and can probably predict future problems. The Alston case really gutted the NCAA power structure.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 12:47 pmCongress should not be involved in sports.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 2:51 pmExactly, nothing will be off limits. College Athletics needs to self govern for their own good or else they will self implode and become irrelevant. It’s that simple.
That's because technically college football isn't the entity that is concerned with survival, the colleges are.
The problem is the BIG boys may not include us. They like their losers to beat up for the money.
Courts are trying to dictate the way we govern, how we govern, and who can govern..... They love putting their noses in just about everything. Why not sports!
