Being reported that Sean Elliott is resigning as the Panther’s head coach and is expected to take the TE coach position for the Gamecocks.

Guessing (all 6) GSU fans are celebrating!

Guess that opens the 30-day transfer portal period for GaSt players, right as they are getting into spring practice. Odd timing indeed. I wonder if we'd have any interest in any of his guys, since we recruited a good many of them no doubt. I also wonder if Elliott might make a call or two up the mtn on behalf of any of his players that wanted to get out of dodge, as I assume most of the remaining players on the Panthers roster aren't "up to" Columbia standards.

Elliott never moved from Columbia. His family remained and he commutted back and forth.

He was going into the last year of his contract. And Cobb's contract expires in August.

Along with going 7-6 after starting 6-1 last season and the comically bad ODU loss to close the season, GSU has one of the least amount of returning production in all FBS.

I felt he would leave after last season, but am surprised it happened Feb. 15

3 days into spring ball though, that’s rough on GSU 🤣.

41-43 in 7 seasons. 5 of 7 were winning seasons. Best coach they ever had. Definition of more with less. Glad he’s out of that 💩 hole.

A few weeks ago Josh Pate predicted that we’d see a top coach in the game leave his job because he’s fed up with the portal and NIL. Not that either Chip Kelly or Shawn Elliott are top coaches but UCLA is still a great job, but more that’s 2 who have left the HC position to accept staff positions elsewhere. So are we really going to see top coaches sit it out for a few years or just join someone else’s staff. Great pay, less pressure. Consolidated coaching talent at fewer schools. Interesting

Agree with you. The timing is awful but this is probably the only job that he leaves for at this juncture.

Not ideal, but not a difference maker other than two lost sessions of Spring ball. There isn’t allowed contact the first three sessions.

What happens with the rest of the staff?
Does someone get a promotion?

The New College Football is just like the old college football we just have more access to information about it.

Remember Sparky Woods left Appalachian in a lurch when he left to go to South Carolina took players with him and half of Appalachian's team quit. We may have won our first National Championship in '89 had he not left.
