I told my boys I'd pay for their college to go anywhere they could get into....except UNC. That was a no go. My oldest applied their and when I found out I was like....DUDE WHAT THE!!! He said, relax dad... I applied so I could turn them down.biggie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 1:17 pmOn a side note it is my daughter's bday and she called today from Chapel Hill and we were talking football since the rest of us will go to the App game this weekend and she mentioned UNC playing UNCC this weekend and said if they lose to UNCC then App would kill UNC. I said yes, but if you lose to UNCC you have much bigger problems to worry about since they looked horrible against us.
Guess I can't argue too much as I grew up a UNC fan. She still probably would have preferred Clemson or UT-Knox which she also got in, but we couldn't afford. She got into App Honors, but really had no interesting. And UNC is good if she continues on her plan of pre-med/doctor stuff.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 2:04 pmI told my boys I'd pay for their college to go anywhere they could get into....except UNC. Yes, means they are close to bottom 10. Which I don't think will be long term.
Yes, that means they are about to crack the bottom 10. After last season and a disappointing outing against the Bulldogs from Starksville, I'm surprised they're not already on the list. If it wasn't for Bama and UNC's poor showings, Southern Missed would've likely made it. The SBC needs the Golden Eagles to find their mojo again. A strong USM is good for the conference but I'm afraid they're dealing with a similar reality as ECU.
But I thought everyone was saying USM would be strong this year and App was going to definitely lose that game? That was my attempt at sarcasm.moonshine wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 3:15 pmYes, that means they are about to crack the bottom 10. USM and ECU used to get those tweener players when they were the only relevant G program in their region. Now that multiple programs have moved up in their recruiting areas, they don't get all the tweener talent and their records reflect it. ECU now has to compete against App, UNCC, CCU, ODU, JMU, GaSt, GS and Liberty. That's an extra 160+ players (20+ more scholarships than when FCS) diluting the overall talent the Pirates are able to acquire, something they didn't have to deal with 15 years ago. USM is dealing with something similar, seeing USA, UTSA, TxSt, KSU, SHSU, Jax St. all make the jump in the past 15 years plus the likes of Troy and MTSU joining FBS in the early 2000's. That's a lot of competition for the talent pool available and neither program has seemed to find their way back to winning consistently.
