WCU is 3-0 in the SoCon. Could this be their year to finally get a football conference championship? Mercer is undefeated at 4-0 and they meet in 4 weeks. Some football to play for each before and after but they are the last two undefeated teams in the SoCon.

Never to early to prepare for 2028.

Why would we ever give wcu it's own thread in Yosef's Cabin?
That has to be a violation of the moral and ethical code in 10 different ways
At best, they get mentioned in Week 7 games or not St all...

It is in other school athletics. And they are not a rival anymore so I wish them well. They certainly deserve more attention than UNC-CHeat does, at least WCU seems to run a clean program.

(And I thought I might get some push back on this thread and that is OK.)

It's a joke..

Last week I believe their QB set a D1 record last week completing 42 straight passes - that's impressive, I've seen guys warming up on the sideline or pregame dropping balls.

The QB missed their first few games. He is a difference maker. Look for him to move on at seasons end. Probably their best game in a long while yesterday.

My Deputy Sheriff at our sheriff's office...his son plays offensive line for WCU. We always have our Monday morning sit down and talk about App and WCU. WCU's issue is defense. They get that fixed they'll be fine.

Dickens finished with 53 completions in 56 attempts for 378 yds, 6.8 yds a catch. Probably didn’t throw many balls downfield, but still very impressive passing and catching.

That was last week . Yesterday he was chucking it long. He had a plus 50 yard TD as well as a plus 40. No interceptions.

So 5-0 in the SoCon. Are they the best team in NC now?

/s is for sarcasm. So no I was not serious. I am a well-wisher for them as I don't wish them any specific harm.

I have seen them play a few games and they are fun to watch offensively. We should try to hire the QB in the offseason. He makes things happen, mostly good things.

A western grad friend of mine said their QB had a crazy game of like 46-46 on passes. Figured that couldn't be true, and I was right (never fully trust a WCU grad when talking about WCU football accomplishments). He did not go 46-46, he did however go 53-56 for 378 yards while completing his first 46 consecutive passes. I second Stonewall's about hiring this kid.

Western having a good football season is good economic news for WNC west of Asheville. The area has businesses still struggling after Helene. Restaurants and hotels need their business on game weekends. After 10 years of separation between our FBS and their FCS it seems pretty outdated to consider them a threat.

I watched some of the UTC game and the view of the stands (was of maybe 2,000 people. That may have been the away side, I don't know but it was VERY thin.

Yeah we might want to get that guy out of the portal. He’s a monster. Problem is, he’s not the prototypical big bodied NFL style QB that Loggains likes.
