I did not realize he was competing for time with Huesman's son. That's a touchy situation.

At the beginning of the news they were talking about how no decision had been made about who would be the starter then at the end, announced he had quit but not a disciplinary action.

He was the #2 last year. The QB who we lit up last year (can't remember his name right now) got injured against GSU in Statesboro last year and Robinson came in and dominated the game since he's a dual threat. They lost by one after missing a 2PC at the very end.

He SHOULD have been the #1. He was that good.

Apparently the coach's kid is a pocket passer. Dale Jones is gonna love this news.

It was BJ Coleman who was drafted by the Packers - was their 3rd QB and signed to practice squad - I saw Robinson a couple of times and he was dangerous and as was stated almost beat GSU by himself

Clean release from UTC, heck of an athlete, App could find a place for him on the field.

So the question is that if he transfers to another D1 school, will he have to sit out all next year as well?

Yes it would be a clean release, but the timing is very peculiar. Apparently he didn't go to classes today, the coaching stafff tracked him down and he told them he was done.

Tough spot competing against the coach's son. I've seen that type of relationship create havic on a team. This could impact more players than one this season for UTC.

If he isn't willing to split time at QB as a co-starter, I doubt he would want to be a backup at App....or change positions for that matter. Compare this decision to the way Cadet and Presley handled their situations at App. I'm afraid this kid will wind up regretting this decision. He does appear to be a talented athlete and it' s a shame for him to walk away.

He's probably better off transferring to a good D2 school and not losing a year if he really wants to play.

Look what Hamilton did to Elon by playing his son - they had 2 all-state QBs who were moved to other positions one of whom started as QB the year before as a true freshman - to play his son who, and I say this with all honesty, was no better than the average high school QB ---

Great news!

I thought he was an excellent running QB when I saw him play GSU , whereas Coleman's style let us win the game last year with our defense.

Agree.... we always seem to have trouble against running QBs... You would think that, with our style of offense, our defense would know what to do..

IMHO it seems a waste of a talent for UTC to let go. I would think some things are probably going on behind the scenes to make this happen.

Reminds me of the story Al McGuire used to tell - back when his son was playing for him at Marquette the other point guard came to see Coach and said, "Coach, I'm as good as your son so I think I should play" - to which McGuire - "He's my son - if you are going to play you have to be better than him"

Saint you might remember the old days with Bartlett Yancey basketball - their coach then has been a long time friend - Lindsay Page - both his sons played for him and they were good and both he and his wife said that the best day of that period was the day both had graduated  they had taken a lot of grief because of his sons playing - as you say - it's a tough spot ---
