Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
So, every coach who has won a Sun Belt Football Championship Game has cashed that in for a "promotion" on either the first or second go-around.

Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
I hate this for the belt. What the SB needs is 4 really great teams, and 1-2 unbeaten in the champ every year so we can get into the playoffs. The SB is the only conf who has not gone to the access bowl (thanks Georgia Southern), we need to get in to these playoffs for respect. All these teams getting “better” and the parody is fine, but we need some elite teams to really take off. I liked Troy being one of those teams and us, would be great is USM and Marshall were the other 2. Beating up on each other is not what’s needed.

Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
Stonewall has proven to have his finger on the pulse and I decidedly don't, but its not hard to see that there is a storm brewing in the college athletics landscape.
FSU getting left out of the playoffs has shown that if you are not in the Big 10 or SEC, you are way behind. We're about to see direct payments to players, and the NIT is effectively shutting out most mid-majors and the NCAA is actively working on minimizing or eliminating mid major auto bids to the basketball tournament
My guess is hes hinting at additional conference realignment due to the ACC getting gutted ( no tears from me) a la PAC 12 that is coming at some point. It could be good or bad for the sunbelt.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is set to become the next coach at Troy, sources told ESPN. A deal is expected to be finalized and announced Monday, per sources.

Notre Dame folks are ecstatic and Troy folks are not happy. This one will be interesting.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 12:56 pmNotre Dame offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is set to become the next coach at Troy, sources told ESPN. I can see that. The WF QB seemed to regress this year.appst89 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 1:05 pmNotre Dame folks are ecstatic and Troy folks are not happy. Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
With all the crazy moves in the Sun Belt coaching carousel every year, I think our old pal Shawn Elliot may just be the most senior Sun Belt head coach, with Clark not far behind. Crazy to think about that.

Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
The “haves” of G5 are going to be able to separate themselves with their pocketbooks. We’ve got a long way to go to get even close to parity, and our “culture” will only make up so much. It’s good that the NIL collective opened up to the commoner, as it’s going to take the whole to make an impact. Even $10/mo will make a difference if enough people do it.
Like or loathe NIL, it’s here, and that toothpaste can’t be put back into the tube. If we don’t play the game, we will get left behind in very short order.
Give 'em hell!

Wouldn’t mind one bit if Coach Clark and crew took this opportunity to snag a few big O-line and D-line guys from South Al.

Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
Found this interesting. A local business had been using a college BB player to do comercials about a year ago. He has been replaced by a past spokesperson and a retired pro football player. Not seeing any " NIL" around here, not that I watch everything.

Re: Sun Belt coaching carousel
Perhaps promoting Major Applewhite might help them hold things together. Given this point on the calendar it might be their best option.

I agree with this 100%. Applewhite has a strong football mind and a very bright future.
