After I've heard things like this from various people about various conferences and all the chatter on here for the past however long.....I'll believe it when they make the official announcement.

It's seems like these "done deal" things are always posted by newbies...

You can say that but if you look at BooneTowns last post with news it was the non-conference opponents we didn't know about and he was right. Not saying he's right here but I wouldn't go to slamming him yet either.

I would assume the press conference would be no later than 5:00PM. Assuming as much, in just under 9 hours we should be watching a great press conference.

Probably no chance of happening but imo the best case scenario for ASU is to be brought in as football only and move everything else to the CAA. Did a little map questing to the SB schools and it's a haul. From Boone: Ga State 300 miles, GSU 340, WKU (assuming they are still in) 380, Troy 500, Ark St 620, S Ala 630, ULM 770, ULL 870, Tx St 1225, and for basketball & all other sports UALR 685 & UT Arlington 1020. Can the budget stand that?

If one is to believe all the message board material, ASU and GSU were done deals yesterday, but it fell apart over NMSU.

Gotta take the offer when it comes, but I'm not too excited about sending our baseball/track/tennis/softball teams to Las Cruces.

Just an FYI...don't think the track team is an issue. These days, track does invitationals and group meets. The days of the dual meet are past.

As long as all sports are in division I leagues, it doesn't matter to the NCAA. Conference membership is up to the conferences, not the NCAA.

ECU looks like they'll be all sports in the new Big East but that rule is why they were looking for a place to house their other sports, the NCAA would not have permitted them to stay in C-USA.

Every other year is not the same as transporting all our other "non revenue" teams up to several states away consistently. Too, fielding the FH team boosts our APR significally and we are one of the leaders in NC in that regard.

Travel to CAA schools wouldn't be worse than travel to Sun Belt schools.

Do you mean the time away would be a disaster for the student's coursework or that the academic level of CAA schools is below us? I assume the first, but was not sure.
