Take it your no is an indication that you never want Liberty in the Sun Belt.

If so I very much agree, No to Liberty, Not even if conference is in trouble of going out of existence.

The SunBelt's last spot grows more valuable by the day. With CUSA staying at 14, and the big guys shoring up their positions, SBC can afford to take their time evaluating the best fit for the conference and its new and old members.

JMU and MSU are still on the table, but not for a 2014 transition... that is clear. But there is no need to panic. We have WKU through 2014, and can afford to wait a year.

Actually, WKU joins CUSA on July 1, 2014.

Stay at 11.

I'd rather wait one year for JMU to learn a lesson we learned last year.

JMU admin and posters do not even mention the SB normally. They are not likely coming to the SB ever.

Neither did Cobb before we were rebuffed by CUSA.

What about Eastern Kentucky?
20,000 seat stadium, 2nd highest number of FCS playoff appearances.
Not good football attendance recently though, and only 20 miles from UK.

If I remember right Cobb even scoffed at the idea of ASU in the Sun Belt at one point...

Desperation will certainly make you do crazy things..

That was before CUSA had members leave and invited schools based on market instead of tradition. At the time CUSA was the best option for us and we were trying to play that card.. Now, SunBelt was the best (and only) option.

Remember, the "scoffing" at Sun Belt was before a lot of changes in the college football landscape.

Personally, I'm hoping this Sunbelt venture is a short term, interim measure until we can find a better fit with like minded academic schools, with similar mission, geography, etc. Not impressed by the new league, but have resigned myself to accepting that it's the best we can do at this time, to make the step up that is long overdue. Based on the current landscape of major college sports, it would be great if we can help set the standard for overall excellence in academics and athletics, done the right way. We have to be careful with the company we keep, when it comes to branding our university.

May very well be. But on the flip side of that, how much did it take to get this abomination paid for?

They may a history of quality football, but the sights of that stadium tell me they have no vision on the future of their football team.

So does that mean that the stacked stone in the locker room is more important than the play on the field? Are we starting to be more concerned with the carton than we are with the ice cream?

I agree! That thing in Richmond, Kentucky is one of the weirdest looking stadia you'll ever see, certainly on American soil. The "Visitor's Side" looks like my now defunct middle schools away side and the home side looks like a steep half built-out two-tiered (but not really) soccer stadium grandstand, to be found somewhere in eastern Europe, with the weirdest "dugouts along field level"? The upshot is a fantastic view of a huge water tower, if that's your thing.

Plus there isn't a track around the field!

Do you want your opponents to have a great looking stadium?
Ability to hold enough people is all I would look for.
What good alternatives are better, other than JMU?

I agree. What a dump. That's just ugly. Wow.
