"Mark my words in the not to distant future Georgia Southern will no longer be saying One More Time for an FCS National Championship, we will be saying One More Time for a BCS National Championship" - Georgia Southern President Brooks Keel
That was said that yesterday at a public gathering for the unveiling of their Erk Russell statue before their game against UCA.

kinda confirms my belief that the SBC has already talked to GS about joining. Now, it was stupid of him to go public, Im sure the SBC commissioner probably isnt happy with him doing that, but, we are talking about GS, not exacty the "brightest and the best" running the show.

He didn't REALLY say anything different from what they (and us) have already said publicly -- they want to move to FBS as soon as they have a feasible/reasonable alternative. I do happen to believe that they have a Sunbelt invitation essentially in their pocket, and will be announced soon, but he didn't say that, or anything else specific.

No Sunbelt team is going to a BCS Bowl much less winning a national championship. Somebody give President Keel another beer.

Those are things presidents and chancellors say to rally the alumni and fans. We've had a number of "we can't" chancellors. It's nice Georgia Southern is experiencing some Ken Peacock "we can" enthusiasm.

And if they do not get to go FBS they will blame it on the officials. Just like thet blame the Refs for every loss. Bunch of dang Stink

He could have used a more sane example.

Dream the impossible dream.
Go for the gold.
Go for the gusto.
Nothing wrong with extolling people onto an almost impossible challenge.
Besides, some of those GaSo or App State teams with additional quality players could have beat just about anyone.

I'll guarantee you one thing... that TO bullcrap is not going to stand in FBS. Ask all of the teams that successfully run it in FBS.

You mean like those consistent bowl-bound teams from Air Force, Navy, and Georgia Tech? Yeah, surefire proof the TO has no place in FBS football.

Anybody have any info on sun belt tv contracts. Looks like they have a deal with espn to show maybe 8 games per year on espn, espnu. Take a look at those games, none are on saturday. Wonder what a thurs game in boone would look like? The only thing I could find that mentioned money was from 2009 and shows no tv contract money for sun belt.

Thanks for providing three crappy teams that are never in the run for a BCS Championship.

Do you think if Ga Southern changes their offensive approach that they will contend for a BCS championship?
How many teams, regardless of their offensive set, truly have a shot at competing for a BCS championship?

Good point, and if any team thats not SEC or Big10 like NIU gets anywhere close to being in the discussion of the BCS teams they are laughed at and called a joke like Kirk Herbstreit did this weekend. I hope NIU crushes their opponent in their bowl game.

Georgia Tech fans have been calling for Paul Johnson's head for a while now. Teams like Air Force and Navy pretty much have to run a gimmick offense due to the lack of talent their teams possess.
