App just tweeted Major announcement at 4 PM tomorrow

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to make a major announcement regarding the University and its athletics program.

Due to space limitations, Wednesday's press conference will not be open to the general public. However, fans can watch the press conference live and in its entirety on GoASU TV. The live video stream will be made available FREE of charge.

The press conference will also be carried on many Appalachian IMG Sports Network radio affiliates across the region. A full list of affiliates airing the press conference will be updated in this space as they are confirmed

It's pres-only "due to space". I would say screw that and put it in the Holmes Center. It's the only way you'll fill the building. Sell concessions and make some money!

Just got word that the announcement isn't about App going to the SBC. They're announcing that men's BBall is being dropped and the HCC is being converted to an ice hockey facility. Oh, and vaginal probes.

I simply can not believe what I'm reading. Every major presser the athletic department has held since the announcement that we were joining NCAA Division I in late 1969 has been open to the public. And I haven't missed one. Not even one!

Now, we have the biggest announcement in university athletic history and it's closed? And we're supposed to sit home and WATCH THE GoASU-TV SERVERS CRASH? Was this decision made by Charlie Cobb or by the SID? Either way, it stinks and I resent it a helluva lot! And I really, really mean it, ASU!

ASU administration really screwed the pooch on this one. This press conference should be open to the public, students should be encouraged to attend and it should be advertised locally. They should throw open the doors to the HCC and make a big public event out of this.

Really, really poor planning by someone. To say this is disappointing is an understatement.

Yup, I give it 10 minutes at max before everything comes down and thousands of App fans and curious watchers are staring at buffering or a black screen.

I love that Georgia Southern has a dedicated webpage for the announcement and I'm assuming everyone is invited to attend.

Gents,

You think it is possible that this announcement has more press interest than anything we've ever done before? That it might be possible that they already have more commitments from the press than the venue will allow? That it might be possible that they want to control the venue for this announcement?

I think we may want to give the administration a pass here.

Maybe they dont want the 10% protesting?

It wasnt but a year ago a portion of the students were rebelling against the FB team after all.

Not to mention the remnants of the JM squad.

92, This is HUGE and supporters should be allowed to revel in it. Most of us have been here LONG before anyone making the decision. They should have found a way to get Homes center.... I see this as a botch and a slap in the face of all of us who have been there. I am almost never critical of ASU, but this stinks!

I understand your feelings. This process has been 20+ years for me as well. I think we are getting tremendous participation in the presser, and they want to be sure the all press that want to attend have space. I will be working, at 4PM tomorrow, but will try to steal away some time to watch it, if I can't I will watch it when I get home.

There has been a "massive" influx of GSU and App fans on the SB board, theyre doing a rapid registration period to handle them all!

So, since GSU's is at 9 and ours is at 4..is it possible that Karl Benson will be attending both? Hence the massive time difference between the 2?

I've paid my money I deserve the show. Same goes for the rest of you.

This thing should be in the HC and it should be a freaking pep rally bananza. Advertize this on campus. Get the sports teams out there. Let the BBall team throw down some dunks. Get the cheer/dance teams out there. Get the band in there. This is a move that will forever change this school for the good or the bad who knows yet but still it is a massive change. I want Peacock running out there with all three championships tied around his neck and jumping through a flaming hoop while Charlie is break dancing. Seriously, what the hell, closed in a tiny room? You cannot shun your supporters. If you give it the pep rally atmosphere the dissidents won't be able to hear themselves complain.
