The "big boys" are in California this week discussing the future of college football.
Even elicits a mention of App State.

The mention of Appstate makes me think more of a complaint by the big boys that the fbs is getting too big because the likes of appstate and gsu are breaking in to the fraternity.

This is not what I read. It is what I think.
We are in the position we are because there was not a forward thinking administration in the mid to late 70's and then again later in the 90's.
I'd say, ***NOt from an egotistical position*** that we are as good as about 85% of the teams in the FBS....and about 10% of those teams in the BCS. But because we did not move until now we are the ones taking it on the chin.
We were deserving and are deserving as an institution and a program IF we had, had the forward thinking administration 35 years ago. While the "team" was not capable of repping then they could have been. When Mack Brown came to Boone in 1983 a statement was made IMO, and the ship had already sailed but the FCS did not look so bad....Had we known what was going to "happen" we should have been on the boat when it sailed. (How did ECU know?....and 15 years later, how did Marshall know?) There is little different between our programs that reliving the last 30 years could not have fixed.
The same USA report could have been said and probably was about ECU and Marshall as examples for the times they left!
