I would assume SB will need an eastern school to balance out the divisions? Looking forward to 2014. Go App!

No, rumors indicate JMU is the first choice, Mo. St. Would be next. Neither appear to be willing to come on board on App's timeframe. JMu is going their an evaluation that will be completed after summer 2013.

There will have to be a replacement by June 1 for there to still be a conf. championship in 2014. I hope SB doesn't wait for JMU.

IMO - It would be better to wait a year than add a school for the sake of a 2014 championship game. Would you rather have Liberty in '14 or wait a year and have JMU in '15?

I agree wait a year, one year is not worth a poor choice.

JM is holding out for an invitation to USA or MAC, I think its a huge mistake, it appears USA is done with invites for the forseeablbe future, and the MAC isnt even considering expansiion at this point. If they turn down the SBC, it looks like they could be in the CAA for a long time. Of course, things change, but its a hell of a risk to take, if you turn down the SBC. Imagine what their fan base is going to do if 5 years from now there is no invitatiion to USA or MAC and they are still in the CAA. As for other schools, rumor is, unfortunately, Liberty might be getting the call.

I have a hard time seeing Liberty getting the votes.

Does it have to be 100%?

I dont think they will get the call myself, but, Liberty is doing somethings that will atleast get them in the conversation, they are pumping alot of money into their programs, they are in a good tv market, better than most of the existing SBC schools, and the SBC wants add one more team, if JM and MS turns them down, there just isnt alot of other schools ready to move up.

If CUSA invites any more teams it will be Ark St and ULL. They are however to expand as the projected pay structure makes 12 team conferences ideal vs.
larger ones for the Go5.
The pecking order appears to be
JMU
MSU
JSU
SHSU
Find another 5 programs
Liberty, just too much opposition.

Fill me in. Does the championship game mean that they could/would play 12 games, then a championship game if eligible, and then a bowl game if eligible? Thus 14 games?

Sam Houston in the SB would be a nice addition.

They have a program, but not attendance. They also are Southland members, and several of the Western division members have put a stop to any additional Southland move-ups.

Only if the goal was to go to 14 teams, otherwise the divisions would be unbalanced. The next addition will come in the east, or it will be a school from the west that offers more than SHSU (e.g., MSU).

The folks on the JMU board are convinced that CUSA will invite them. It seems a bit reminiscent of us a couple years back. I don't see the logic in CUSA adding them and Delaware (another rumor). Why would they add more FCS graduates? They seem to think that the AAC will expand (or be robbed) and thus create the space. I understand their desire to join CUSA from a geographic standpoint but I just have a hard time believing it will happen. And while they would be my choice for the 12th member, even if we have to wait a year, I'm not sure we should expect them to join us. At this Mo State may be the best option.

App paid a one year price for thinking we were getting that call, JMU's price could be 5+ years.

It doesnt help JMU that their current President doesnt seem to be a big fan of athletics, and has hinted to putting more efforts and money into other depts, kinda sounds like what we went thru in the 90's.
