Troy's loss to Nevada and South Alabama's loss to N Texas were both really disappointing.

The failure to extend the deal between the MWC and WSU/ORSU might help our future scheduling. I know we have had discussions with them about home and home.

You really see the difference in conferences when looking at week one standings. The power conferences have very few losses while each G5 had 4 or more teams lose. It’s looking more and more like we are maybe Triple A versus the majors. A Triple A could get some good pitching and maybe some timely hits and knock off the White Sox but highly unlikely that any would beat the Dodgers. For the longest time the same 10 or so big boys have ruled with another 10-20 who jostle back and forth for that 11-30 range. Then you get the couple of G5’s who put it all together and slide into that 15-20 range. I think by year’s end those magical G5 teams will be fewer and fewer. While we will have solid college football teams we will knock each other off and the odds of one going 11-1 will be rare.

No doubt about it, in the new scheme of things - G5 is JV and FCS is 7th-8th grade

I only tuned into the Troy game briefly but I heard the PXP guys saying the team was absolutely devastated by outgoing transfers. It could happen to almost any program, but luckily a mass exodus hasn’t happened to App yet to the point of being crippling. That speaks to App’s culture and being a program rather than a team.

I think we picked up one of those transfers. With that said, they did not lose by much to Nevada I believe.

Indirectly, could help with our bowl tie-ins as well. Spoke to the head of the Independence Bowl in New Orleans. That game in Shreveport doesn't currently have a Sun Belt tie in but he gave me the impression they are looking to change that with the elevated brand of the Sun Belt.
Season Planned matchup
2023 Big 12 Pac-12
2024 Army Pac-12
2025 Big 12 C-USA
I'd be all for a possible Army or Big 12 matchup!

Troy and SBamy were the let downs but as much as I hate to say it....The Stink showed fight against Boise who arguably is the best G5 team in the land right now.
