Re: Miss North Carolina
One year back in the mid to late '80's App had the MIss NC, 1st runner up and Miss Congeniality. In a high school assembly program when I was teaching, I was brought up on the stage and Miss North Carolina kissed me on the cheek in front of the whole student body. It couldn't have been good for her because I was sweating bullets.

Re: Miss North Carolina
How do these things work? Do the participants just seek out a local pageant to win so they can get into the state level competition. Batson is from Wilmington, attended college in Watauga County and it seems she won a local event in a third or fourth location.
I am not being critical but just curious.

Appalachian State student and 1977 Miss North Carolina Kathy Fleming did her Student Teaching at my high school (Elkin HS) and I had her for math. Man, it was hard to concentrate.

To quote the late Lewis Grizzard: "Dang brotha I don't believe I'd have told that!"
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

She’s still a handsome woman, a Sorority sister of my wife’s and dated a good friend for the years through college. AND she is a good person!

That's good to hear. I know she did a good job with her student teaching. She was very professional and competent. The only stereotypes intended in my post were those pointed at my teenage hormones.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 2:52 pmShe’s still a handsome woman, a Sorority sister of my wife’s and dated a good friend for the years through college.
