This is just another example why hickory matters so much. We need a strong satellite campus to compete for more "professional" degrees. I'm sure this chaffed some niner cheeks.

I think we overestimate the importance alumni put on their professional school. I don't donate to my medical school (very few of my classmates do either) but I do regularly donate to app academics and athletics.

For me it's not the donations I look at it's the exposure, prestige, and potential research money it can being the school. I agree about donations. I dont donate to the school I got my masters from, just App.

What is the last thing we need?

Many of them probably are lawyers.

And NidoQu is opening High Point School of Law in High Point, of all places to find one, later this year. With a School of Dentistry to follow. And a School of Optometry; and one of Nursing; and one of Entrepreneurship; and a new Library; and new student housing. And even more. And Nido says he just raised $100 Mil from three families. And he says the day's coming when he'll have $400 Mil in fully-funded new facilities construction underway on HPU's campus at once. Apparently, just nine families to go at his current success rate! Look out, Duke, Nido's coming for ya!

High point was wildly in debt last I had heard. Their campus is pretty ridiculous. Iron fencing all the way around with a number of amenities. Lots of jersey license plates.

Also, its accreditation status is in a warning status as of last summer. Lot of non-compliance issues related to student support and outcomes.

I was at a meeting there about 2 years ago and I asked that question about debt. They stated that all the new construction was being done without adding debt and being paid in cash. That does not mean they are not still carrying a lot of debt.

Examine their actual cost of attendance, and you will see why they have relatively little debt.

I was talking with a physics professor there some years ago when Nido was just starting to go big and his statement was something to the effect that the students they were looking for did not need financial aid. They do give some aid and percent receiving may be decent but the amount given I think is very very small.
