I think of Grover running back and forth across my TV, back in the day.

Just say I wish UTk the best the rest of the season and then remind them it's their website if they question the k:

To each his own, I guess. I have no problem with 'Neers. "Mountaineers" is a lot of syllables. I guess the more common way to shorten it up is just "Go App" or one that has always hit me as strange, "Go Apps."BUTCH1991 wrote:My opinion - sounds stupid, makes me think of a shaving cream, and is just a lazy way of saying Mountaineers.

I had no idea until I came on to this forum that "Appy" wasn't the preferred abbreviation, although I quickly learned it wasn't lol. I don't think any Vol fan would find it rude or disrespectful if you corrected them. At least, I wouldn't. I like to sound like I know what I'm talking about haha.

Gotta admit that this is a clever nickname...
"Appetizer State"

at least clever instead of the boring ole "crApp State", etc.
And, if you aren't familiar with Tennessee's "painting the rock" tradition:

Let it all out. Holding it in will only make you feel worse.

That being said. I had no idea until this game. "Appy" is just said casually in reference to the school anywhere I've ever been, and I live in Memphis currently.
I will, from now on, not use the term "Appy."
Also, I do pronounce the mountain range from which you derive your name properly, and am a huge fan of going out there.
