Marshall would fill up the entire lower east side when they came to town. That was 5,000 seats back in those days so I'm not sure Miami will top that. They'll have a good crowd no doubt though.

LOL, Miami fans don't travel well. How amusing. We're a national brand. Most alumni are not in Florida so we have alumni all over the country. As one of our posters said, we're not huge like OSU* or Florida and we're relatively young (90 years old). That said, our alumni are extremely proud of all that has been accomplished in our short history compared to other schools.

I gather the point about not traveling well is a bit of a sore spot. I'm sure you Canes fans have heard it before - it certainly didn't originate here.
Maybe it's less about loyalty/enthusiasm than about overall fan base size. Point taken. End result is the same - Miami doesn't tend to have as many fans at home, on the road or at bowl games as other national powers.

We're used to all the stereotypes--that we dont travel well, that Miami is a party school, that we constantly cheat, that we are overrated, that all of our titles are tainted, etc, etc. On yea and that none of our fans went to the school and are all uneducated.

Sounds like your program has much in common with Georgia Southern.LizardCane wrote:EastHallApp wrote:I gather the point about not traveling well is a bit of a sore spot. I'm sure you Canes fans have heard it before - it certainly didn't originate here.

Dude. Miami is a party school. Miami is a very good university, but a big party school. The grove is teaming with undergrads every night and I did enjoy having a bar on campus. The Rat had good beer specials.LizardCane wrote:EastHallApp wrote:I gather the point about not traveling well is a bit of a sore spot. Marshall brought a ton of fans to those games back in the early 80's when I was in school. I don't think anyone ever topped them once they left the SOCON. Even back then I thought it was impressiveJTApps1 wrote:Marshall would fill up the entire lower east side when they came to town.
