We should all be elated for Scott getting his dream job. Going from walk-on quarterback all the way to head coach is quite the story and he will need all the support he can get to heal a fractured fan base.
This selection should not have been about who we "like" or some feel good story about a guy getting his dream job. It should have been about the is more qualified candidate getting the job. Unfortunately Cobb stacked the deck in Scott's favor and we will never know who all would have applied had there been a level playing field. On of his main priorities for the job was "having a connection with ASU"? Good thing Urban Myer had that one year coaching WR's at Ohio State in 1987 or he wouldn't have been considered for tate job. Still trying to figure out Spurrier's connection with USC was. Too many important decisions at ASU are based on how someone "feels". Have to get the emotion out of the way and look at facts. IF Scott was the best guy available out of a candidate pool with no strings attached I'd have zero problems with this. But that isn't the case. John Settle doesn't even get an interview.
