I'm going no doubt, already have room and tickets reserved. I just would have preffered a different location, although Montgomery was fun last year.Saint3333 wrote:Mobile promised Troy the DG bowl mix-week last week if ULL won. When ULL got to six wins NO was going to take them. When the DG bowl took Ohio that means the Camellia bowl was likely to take Toledo. You usually avoid rematches from the regular season so Ark st couldn't go there. Therefore we get Toledo. We get the better opponent and tv slot. I would prefer to rotate our locations each year, but will be in Montgomery again to support the team and watch Cox and crew one more time.ebapps1 wrote:Why didn't we get Orlando?

For those wanting wanting Orlando over Montgomery:
6-6 UCF rather than 9-3 Toledo
CBS Sports Network over ESPN....
I'll take Montgomery! Give em hell!

No way our players are excited, a couple have already commented. As much as we piss and moan, think about how much this stinks for the players....Time for the coaches to motivate our players to win this bowl.

Yep, super excited about this match up. I agree that I'd prefer another city but have no problem with Montgomery. Already have a group of 3 and probably growing. Counting down to December 17th! GoApps!

Not questioning you but what were the players expecting? - this is actually at least one "step up" from what most anticipated --- I'm not sure the players are all so upset ---boonetown1 wrote:No way our players are excited, a couple have already commented. Hard to believe the players are complaining. This is a step up for sure, Toledo is a very good team. I'm excited, definitely should be a great game. Looking forward for sure!!

Orlando is a great place and all, but I doubt Orlando cares too much about the Cure Bowl. In Montgomery at least, it's the only thing in town and I think the city did a fabulous job last year.
Either way, in going to support my team and watch them beat Toledo.

I'm quite sure plenty of them are disappointed. Despite what you or I would like to believe, plenty of these kids play just to have fun and reap the "rewards" of playing college football. You honestly don't think they'd rather go to Orlando as opposed to Montgomery (again)?WataugaMan wrote:Hard to believe the players are complaining. I assure you there is no happier football team right now than ODU. Those kids get a free trip to the Bahamas.

I love the fact I can drive to the bowl game. I love the fact we're playing a very good Toledo team. I love the fact we're bowling.

Re: Just in asu going back to Camilla
I'd go again.....but good friends daughter getting married that day so that means about 10 of us won't make it
. The good news it frees up two premium tailgate spots. The tailgating is good in Montgomery but the stadium was a dump. We may be doomed to bad tie-in dates. Would like to see a different venue. But Toledo is a step up from Ohio last year and we will have our hands full.

They could seat us on the Press Box side this year, that would give a different viewpoint.

City will welcome us, atmosphere will be festive, trip will be drivable, opponent will be the second-best team from the league that produced the Cotton Bowl participant.
Was hoping for New Orleans, but I will be there, will be excited to go, and will have a blast just like last year. Hope to see you all there!

How cares where we play? Go against a 6-6 team vs. 9-3 team, I pick competition vs. location every time.ah59396 wrote:I'm quite sure plenty of them are disappointed. Re: Just in asu going back to Camilla
As I see it, and as long as ASU is in the Sun Belt, we have a few choices each year. First, keep a log of ULL outcomes. When they reach 6 wins, we can mark New Orleans off our potential bowl possibilities. Second, have a very successful year including nine or ten wins and a conference championship and pack our bags for Montgomery. Or third, have a mediocre year and get a chance to spend part of the winter in Orlando, Tucson, or the Bahamas enjoying a super vacation and watching the Mountaineers play football. Our treatment by the Sun Belt bowl situation is very undesirable and is unlikely to improve until conference standings are a mandatory part of the selection process.

This is why then Group of 5 schools should demand a conference realignment. I'm all for Montgomery though! Give em hell!!

Re: Just in asu going back to Camilla
I would remind the players that our National Championship teams went to Chatty 3 years in a row and nobody complained. Same goes to the fans. Everyone needs to focus on the game not the city. Toledo is a better team than anyone else in the SBC is playing this year. Just ask Ark. State about them.boonetown1 wrote:No way our players are excited, a couple have already commented. Did you go last year? I ask because everyone that I have talked to said they had a great time last year as did everyone in our group.ASUPATCH wrote:Would love to play Toledo in any other city hosting a bowl. Montgomery blows, oh well.
It might not be a family destination like Orlando or all out party scene like New Orleans, but they'll roll out the red carpet for us and the game will be great.
