Yup. I started following App in '98...and I realize how spoiled we were Defensively, especially at DE...we went from Rocky Hunt and Jimmy Freeman to Josh Jeffries and Freeman to Jeffries and Stovall to Stovall and Moore and Hunter to Hunter and Murrell over 7 seasons. It's been a while since we could terrorize QBs like that.

Heck - we pretty much won our first two titles because our Offense scored enough points, ran the ball well, and didn't get stupid delay of game penalties, and our D shut down the other team. Our obsession with offense didn't really show up until '07.
Yeah, seemed like it would go on forever at one time. Shame, all things end.

Has anyone heard anything recent about Nate Woody? I keep hearing "done deal" but as usual, it's "hurry up and wait." No announcement or press conference in sight. Last I heard, it appeared Wofford's HC was trying to talk him out of it. Now, silence. Is this happening or not? It's bad enough waiting on Karl Benson, the Catholic Seven, San Deigo State, etc..., but c'mon man... how about throwing us a bone every now and then. AppNation is in need of a little info. Back for more meds. :?

According to the folks at Wofford, it's a done deal. The holdup is Appalachian State appears to be the only university in the country -- I'm looking at you Debbie Yow --that strictly adheres to posting periods and hiring guidelines. The Wofford folks say it'll be a couple more weeks before an announcement is made.

I met a guy the other day while I was shopping. He commented on my ASU hoodie and asked if I had gone there. Turns out he played at Marshall back when they were in the SoCon in the Jim Donnan days (I think he said he played with Randy Moss). Anyway, we talked about the ASU-Marshall rivalry and his eyes got real big and he said..."Dexter Coakley! There was a man among boys! Dexter hit me so hard one time, I can still feel it today!" I bet there are a lot of guys that Coakley left his mark on like that!

KgFish, Agreed.

Also, your cartoon signature was a funny read the first time I saw it but it tends to be annoying when it takes up 3/4 of my screen everytime you post. That goes for everybody else on this board that adds a signature image that takes up so much screen space. It makes scrolling down the page a pain when every other message consumes my entire screen.

This is a friendly suggestion to everybody.

I just turn signatures off on pages like these. It's easier, and more work-friendly.

For what it's worth, I tried for a good half hour to get both of the signature pics I've used to load smaller to no avail. I would if I could.

Have been thinking of taking it down it for a while. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, trnr. My point was with N.C. State, a school that could fire its football coach on a Sunday and announce his replacement only a few days later.

Teachey has been promoted to DC at Wofford. This means the Woody thing should be cleared up very soon. It is a great time to be a Mountaineer! :P

The Wofford Athletics home page has a front page story that says Teachey has been promoted to DC. Guess that might mean that Coach Woody is coming here? This is really nuts. I wanted him here to offically meet the first group of potential recruits that are visiting (I know that several have already verbally committed but it would be nice for them to meet their new DC). Sometimes the things we do boggle the mind.

IMO, in the last 5 or so years, ASU has gotten nutty-crazy with regard to hiring procedures. The amount of CYA procedures, processes, paperwork, and documentation is beyond reason. I know these things are burdensome at many places, but if some organization is more cumbersome than ASU then they simply never get anyone new hired.
