Observation

Unread post by ASUASU » Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:28 am

Overall I was very pleased at how we played yesterday. With the changes in coaching, a young team, first game of the year, and especially the heat, I thought we did well.
I was very impressed at how we looked on our first offensive possession. It was obvious that Satterfield was back because the play calling was great. We had a good mix of the run and pass and our tempo was great. After the 1st quarter, we seemed to get more conservative with play calling and our tempo slowed down. Was this because of the heat, the injuries, ECU's adjustments or a combination of all these factors.
Like I said, with the exception of our special teams play, I think we played well yesterday and I'm really looking forward to the remaining games.

Another observation:

Yesterday was the perfect example of the difference between FBS and FCS....Our one's played even with and even outplayed ECU's ones....When our one's wore out from the heat we did not have the depth to keep up while ECU had the depth...

Another observation concerns our sports in general this season.

All of our teams are not starting well, and I think I have noticed why. The schedules have been upgraded. In a precursor to what will happen across the board when we move to a FBS conference, we are having the growing pains we have been predicting.....Not a bad thing to me...Necessary but not bad. Tougher competition makes us better. :D
