Question for Griz fans

A couple of years ago I remember seeing some pictures from a game where your team wore throw-back unis - they were really unique and cool - Why did UM go away from their original color scheme to the maroon and gray? ---

The maroon and silver colors we currently sport are actually our traditional school colors. The maroon and silver were originally worn from 1893-1967. Then in 1968, UM changed our colors to copper and gold (what many call "old school") and wore them until 1996, changing back to maroon and silver in 1997. So the throwbacks you saw us wearing in 2008 against Montana State were what was worn from 1968-1996.
