Early Commits basically a tool that allows programs to project interest and where their remaining efforts need to focus. All programs make allowances for lost commitments. The issue is that, in this information hungry world, we now report all this stuff on a real time basis and people outside the process don't always understand it. It does seem silly to call it a "commitment" when it has no binding value, but the NCAA will not ever put restrictions on visits based on early commitments because the NCAA does not recognize early commitments at all. Until a LOI is signed, they don't consider it a commitment at all.Dazed and Confused '13 wrote:But what's the point for a kid to commit this early in the process??
Also, if I would like for the NCAA to prohibit official visits after the kid committed. A commitment is a commitment. If you wanna explore your opportunities you should be allowed to; just don't commit.

Re: Commit looking elsewhere?
Canty was offered by UNCC today. I can find nothing from him saying he's de-committed from us. The Riverdale coach was saying show some love to Charlotte's newest RECRUIT, not commit.skjellyfetti wrote:According to his twitter, Rashad Canty has switched his commitment to UNCC...
#Charlotte #49ers show your newest recruit @Tha_OnlyShad some love!
I see this all the time from coaches once a player is offered.
His twitter bio still shows App State Commit. He also is showing offers from Tulane, UAB, Furman, Ga. St, Kennesaw St, Mercer, MTSU, Samford, South Alabama, William & Mary, and Wofford. Several of these have come in after his commit to us. And if he keeps having a good year even more will come in. Our coaches are going to have to put in a lot of OT to keep some of these early commits. We will lose some but most are saying they are solid.
AJ Wells was offered by Air Force yesterday. And nearly every one of our commits are picking up more offers. As I've said many times it's going to be a long time until February.

No Prob.skjellyfetti wrote:You're right. Read recruit and thought commit. My bad!

I see these tweets all the time and I have to double check myself to make sure. I even said the Charlotte coach but I went back and saw it's the Riverdale HS WR/QB coach. They always tweet these after an offer. If you look on Canty's twitter and go back three posts from the one we're talking about you'll see the same coach tweeted to a K-State coach asking him to look at their 6' 2" 215 QB who is looking for his first offer. The more offers their players get the better it looks for them.
