How long will the Clemsons, Penn States, and Floridas of the world tolerate the likes of Duke, Virginia, Indiana, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt being good before they start calling to go back to the old ways of college football?

Re: ACC
We should because he has taken a bad program and made them a powerhouse whereas some coaches out there have taken powerhouses with tradition and made them a program that can't get to bowl games. I know they are going to offer more but my whole point is that Cignetti can do more with less and he knows how to find best finds very well. He does not need equal money to beat teams. He does a great job. Many of their star players began at JMU so he clearly knows where to get them. He also might be the best head coach at developing quarterbacks in the country. I would say it is between him and Kiffin.GreatAppSt wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 6:09 pmWhy should we?This is a what can be, not a what was discussion right? If the money offered recruits is the same (and it will be you'll have to trust me here) for IU the best players will be Cignetti's to handpick from.

Re: ACC
It is not many of their star players are JMU players. They had 13 come over and some of them graduated last year.

Re: ACC
Several of their star players came from JMU actually. Fisher, Ponds, Sarratt, Kamara, Black, and Tucker is a very strong list from JMU.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 8:16 pmIt is not many of their star players are JMU players. They had 13 come over and some of them graduated last year.

Re: ACC
Add Miami to that list as well. The rest of the league offers little to nothing to the Power 2. The Big 12 has a few attractive teams but not a ton.

Spot on. The farce that Indiana, Duke, and Vandy magically all hired the best coaches at the same time and took historically 4th quartile programs in their respective conferences to top quartile (or top third) in two years ignores another variable called NIL. The biggest winners of the NIL era are 2nd and 3rd "tier" programs in power conferences that can pull bench players from first tier power conferences and starters from G6 programs via the TP and NIL.GreatAppSt wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 5:43 pmPlease stop, IU does have these recourses and most are better. top 15 Med school and largest in the U.S, Dental school, Law school, School of Business # 10 nationally, school of banking # 9 nationally, School of nursing 13th nationally. endowment wise square in the middle of the schools you listed. That will be changing soon with the winning streak. you should be asking imagine what he could do with the resources of IU?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 2:53 pmLook at his support staff and assistants as well. He has great people around him. Think about what he is doing at Indiana and imagine what he could do with the resources of Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc. People use the word incredible way too much but what he has done is incredible.

Re: ACC
Conference re-alignment used to cause me a little excitement and wishful thinking. After getting overlooked and screwed every single time, it now causes nothing but dread and trepidation. Our history and brand has meant nothing and the “market mentality” has led to some of the worst programs in the nation being promoted every round (not mentioning any names). We’ll likely watch Georgia State, JMU, and a couple others move to a depleted AAC and we’ll replace them with a few SoCon teams. It all sucks, now worse than ever. Sorry for the Monday blahs, but prove me wrong.

Re: ACC
That is true. It will be interesting to see which conference each of those teams in both leagues ends up in.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 11:11 amAdd Miami to that list as well. The rest of the league offers little to nothing to the Power 2. The Big 12 has a few attractive teams but not a ton.
