Once again, another person who was told the program was too poor to fire the previous coach. Folks, if you don’t see the common denominators here then you are blind.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Shawn was not surprised by the termination. The decision was made by the Chancellor upon recommendation of the AD . Both of them were emotionally distraught regarding the event. I spoke with both the day after. As to the BOT , no one has ever spoken negatively in my presence or to me one one one regarding anything other than on field performance and the handling of one particular discipline issue as it pertains to Shawn. For what it’s worth.

Maybe the mods will move this scrap over to the Octagon where it belongs.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 10:24 amOnce again, another person who was told the program was too poor to fire the previous coach. Folks, if you don’t see the common denominators here then you are blind.

Not sure I understand some of this, do you just declare if you don't really stand a chance of getting drafted?

In some cases, it'll allow guys to go through the draft process so they can know when going into coaching. And some guys just wanna play ball as long as they can so why not?

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Every since they announced Coach Dlo as our coach, I have thought.... "man he looks like someone that was in football before".... I just never could put my finger on it. Yesterday I was listening to some 80's/90's country on youtube while working. Confederate Railroad came on with their song Memphis Queen. The video has Jerry Glanville in it. As soon as I saw him it hit me.... Coach Dlo reminds me of Jerry GLanville! Ever felt relief once something like that is figured out?

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Will we ever see coaches like Glanville, Dennis Green and Jim Mora in the NFL again?
You know you miss these guys.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
The names I saw as potential replacements are very underwhelming. We need to get people from winning programs who know how to find the talent. I don't see why we would not go after a GM or DPP from a FCS powerhouse or the #2 person at a rising FBS school who wants the chance to run the show that has shown they know what they are doing.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Maybe when it comes to finding a #2 from a P4 but you can't tell me that we can't afford to poach someone from a FCS program or a #2 from a G6 that is rising. You have to pay a decent salary to get good evaluators. It is cheaper to pay 100K or more to find the right person to find the diamonds in the rough in high school and the portal than it is to continue paying buyouts to coaches who make 1M. I really wish we would at least look to FCS because there are some names at that level and some solid assistants at the G6 level that we should be able to attract.bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 6:27 pm$AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 3:43 pmThe names I saw as potential replacements are very underwhelming. This role probably isn’t even making $100k.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 8:49 pmMaybe when it comes to finding a #2 from a P4 but you can't tell me that we can't afford to poach someone from a FCS program or a #2 from a G6 that is rising. Where would the extra $100k come from?
Last I heard, most of our younger coaches aren’t making much at all.
