I am hoping the delay in any news is not a bad sign. I would have thought the deal would have been signed by this time.boonetown1 wrote:Any updates on this?

bh2oson, remember the info was leaked to and then by a newspaper's website. I'm curious as to what the delay is as well...but there are a lot of moving parts to this, contract for Miami's trip to Boone, contract to move NCCU back and/or to another team's schedule, and contract for a return trip to Miami. Nothing will be officially revealed until there's something official to reveal.

Doesn't Central have to find a replacement opponent first?bh2oson wrote:I am hoping the delay in any news is not a bad sign. I would have thought the deal would have been signed by this time.boonetown1 wrote:Any updates on this?

I would assume a buyout clause, if there is one in place, makes this not our concern.NewApp wrote: Doesn't Central have to find a replacement opponent first?

But if they can't find a relatively equivalent payout, we could be on the hook for a larger amount and less if they do.CVAPP wrote:I would assume a buyout clause, if there is one in place, makes this not our concern.NewApp wrote: Doesn't Central have to find a replacement opponent first?

Is this going to happen? Just thought about it and went back to find the thread and it was beginning to fall into the archives.

I'm beginning to question if this has fallen through the cracks. Although Gillin did mention there was some big scheduling news coming soon (about 2 weeks ago).

I highly doubt this fell through any cracks. I'd imagine that either they're actively working to cross all the t's or the deal is dead. The former takes time and they'd be in no hurry to announce the latter.

Gillin suggested before the A-State game that they were close to a deal and that they hoped to announce season ticket sales for next year before the end of this season. Not worried about it yet. We know Miami needs a game, and they haven't announced a deal with anyone else. I imagine if ours falls through, we'll hear about it one way or another.

I'm sure with multi school deals like this (remember it doesn't just affect App and Miami, but NCCU and whoever they're gonna get to play them too) that all parties have to be considered "whole" before an official announcement can be made...if I recall correctly when UMass announced they were coming off our schedule, NCCU joining our schedule were announced jointly.

I'm sure if they came to Boone we might take much less to go there and play...if we took anything more than travel expenses

I would think this is typical for a home and home series. Each team gets their own gate after the other team is paid for travel expenses.Rekdiver wrote:I'm sure if they came to Boone we might take much less to go there and play...if we took anything more than travel expenses

The only holdup is taking care of NCCU at this point. We have an agreement in place with Miami to move forward on once NCCU has a replacement.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

I always thought buy outs were purely monetary. I didn't realize you had to find a replacement game for the team you are buying out.

Me too. I guess these folks must know something we don't. I certainly would prefer a purely monetary solution rather than being made responsible for helping others solve their problems. One is a defined solution. The other is a pig in a poke.TheMoody1 wrote: I always thought buy outs were purely monetary. You normally have to wait for one. Montana was a genius at this a few years back. They left several teams high and dry for a while.TheMoody1 wrote:JTApps1 wrote:The only holdup is taking care of NCCU at this point. Re: Miami (The U) in Boone next year (yes this is football)
Generally, a home and home contract calls for the home team to keep its gate while the visiting team is also responsible for their travel costs. Thus, I would not expect ASU to be compensated to play in the return game at Miami. The game guarantees (such as our payout from Clemson and Michigan) result from the "one and done" road games.CVAPP wrote:I would think this is typical for a home and home series. Most one game arrangements do contain a buyout. However, the home school can negotiate to find a replacement while also committing to a future visit by the inconvenienced school.TheMoody1 wrote:JTApps1 wrote:The only holdup is taking care of NCCU at this point. Coastal Carolina is looking for games since the Big South is disowning them.JTApps1 wrote:The only holdup is taking care of NCCU at this point. We have an agreement in place with Miami to move forward on once NCCU has a replacement.
