We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
We went from having a #2 QB with zero game experience to one that started an entire season in our conference. Huge upgrade IMO.

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
DL and OL are the most over inflated positions in the portal market. Why? Because everyone needs them and they know this and leverage it in negotiations. Getting one isn’t guaranteed quality as that carcass has been picked and cleaned.

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
This is a good move for App. Speaking for myself, having Wiles as QB2 this season will prevent me from going into A-fib every time Joey takes a big hit or tucks the ball and runs.

Is the quality in FCS not good enough for us to pluck or are we waiting to try to get bigger fish?
or something else ?

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
There are some good ones in FCS and D2. I just wonder if they entered the portal or not. Lenoir-Rhyne has a player who could play DT for us and has size.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:08 pmIs the quality in FCS not good enough for us to pluck or are we waiting to try to get bigger fish?

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
For me, I define quality as someone that can step in and provide depth or maybe start. A guy coming from a P5 school isn’t necessarily of quality anymore than a guy coming from the lower division a reach. If you can play, you can play.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:08 pmIs the quality in FCS not good enough for us to pluck or are we waiting to try to get bigger fish?

Take NT for example, being 6’2” 340 isn’t a guarantee to solve our depth issue if he can’t get off the ball and plug a gap. Perception drives opinion. We have a walk on that impressed in camp at NT. Most folks on here would scoff at him because he’s a walk on. But bringing in someone from a P5 or a kid that was on scholarship somewhere else but didn’t play isn’t the automatic answer.
Bottom line, everyone has their own ideas on what we need and what size that need should come in. It’s the old adage, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.

Is that Danny Stevens? Multiple HS coaches I’ve talked to tell me he can play at App. Extremely athletic.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:46 pmFor me, I define quality as someone that can step in and provide depth or maybe start. Re: 2024 Roster Updates
There are guys who can make it without the measurables. But the big time P5 schools and especially the NFL teams have size, strength and speed templates for a reason. We aren’t in a position to have it all so we will always need to make it happen with some guys who don’t fit the template.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:46 pmFor me, I define quality as someone that can step in and provide depth or maybe start. Re: 2024 Roster Updates
For certain. But if you look at the NFL template, the best DL (Aaron Donald) and the best OL (Kelce) didn’t measure up to that template. To your point, if you can ball they will find you. Guys at the P5 level get more of a benefit of the doubt.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:19 pmThere are guys who can make it without the measurables.
