Georgia Southern's offensive line blocking and play calling has looked atrocious thus far, but historically even when they have bad teams they seem to play us tough. Hopefully that trend changes this year and we get two in a row on them.
I have to agree. Troy seems to be the toughest game on the schedule. Coach Brown has done a great job with the Trojans in a short period of time. It would be awesome for the conference if Brown and Satterfield stayed at their respective programs for 5+ years to try and build this conference into a G5 power.
The GS fans are not happy with their coach to say the least. Maybe they'll go the route of the UNCC fans who aren't pleased with the direction of their athletics by trying to raise enough money via gofundme, to fly their own banner around Paulson.

Arkansas State stunk up the place. I really thought they were terrible. There should be an investigation as to why a college team has so many turnovers every game. They are now 1-4. If they run the table, I'll be the most surprised football in the football world. Shocked they were able to win that game.

Although we didn't have our best game against them, they had two weeks to prepare and threw everything at us, we still prevailed. If we stay focused and healthy we can definitely win out, one game at a time.
I agree, that GA State win was more solid than some folks seem to think. The Panthers are competitive and when they start figuring out how to win games they are in a position to win, plenty of teams are going to end up on the short end of the score with them. Knowing how to win is where APP still has a very real and meaningful advantage over teams with as much talent as that GA State squad we saw this past Saturday.

Correct, like Georgia Southern did last season. And, maybe again this season.

Lets just hope this is the case and not one of us playing down to competition. I am not so sure, they are 0-5

I agree with your thoughts but I really do think GSU is better than their record.....at least mostly. Their D is pretty solid and they have excellent receivers and a good OL. They don't have a running game or a QB, so they can't score consistently but their D is what kept them in the game last Saturday. To be clear, I don't think we played anywhere near our best in the first half but I think their D was a factor.

Tx State having no trouble with GSU defense, leading 14-0 in first quarter.

Different day. Different preparation. Different match ups. GSU now leads 34 - 21 in the 4th.

Who they played is really irrelevent, hell we beat Michigan. Florida state was boatraced by louisville barely lost to UNC and smaked Miami. Does not make them that many times better than miami

Is this turning into one of those 5 degrees of separation from the national championship? The problem I see with some teams in the SB is that many take a few money games, get killed and come into conference play with 1-3 or 0-4 records. Then overall the conference sucks and a few decent teams play each other. It is relative. Ga St is improving and but their defense is ahead of the offense. We got their best shot. If we don't play down to bad teams and don't let teams below us play up to us we should be fine. 9-3 or 10-2 still very much expected as long as we limit mistakes and pound the hell out teams with our running game.

While the multiple money games do tend to leave a mark, I think the league's bigger problem is losing to other G5s. I haven't checked the stats but I think the league might actually be doing slightly better in that regard than it did the past couple years. Still a long way to go, though.

If Ark St. goes 2-2 in OOC and a couple others win one more game the SBC could be sitting in 2nd place of the G5 conferences for the pay out.

Sun Belt teams are winning at a .417 clip this season against all out-of-conference opposition. That compares to a .320 winning percentage last year and a .260 winning percentage in 2014.

Looking only at games vs. other G5 leagues, by my count the Sun Belt is 7-9 this season (.438). That's up from 7-13 last year (.350) and 4-12 in 2014 (.333).
