All that matters this week is #1-0 #BeatCoastal

This stuff will work itself out we just don't need to worry about it. Go App!
80% of my focus is on being ranked, the other 20% is dedicated to this corn beef sandwich I’m eating.
I hope they never rank us. I love the disrespect. Wins and rings matter. I urge all the AP voters to take us out of their vote. Fuel us. You need to forget the rankings. We will eventually be ranked as long as we win. We overlook CCU and we will never be ranked this year anyway.

I know you won’t agree with me (and that’s okay), but I stand by this statement:

Finishing the season ranked in the top 25 will do more for our football program long term than winning the Sunbelt would ever do.

Now, do those go hand in hand? Probably. So the debate is moot.
I agree with you being ranked is huge at the end. This is week 5 so we have a ways to go. Being ranked for one or two weeks early on does not matter. What does matter is where we are at the end. If we just go 1-0 each week and beat each of our opponents.

Drink and the rest of us have the goal of 1-0 each week, SBC title, undefeated, bowl win,and finish ranked. So far we have not accomplished any goals or have a resume worthy of being ranked right now.

Special programs stay focused and we as fans need to bring our best every week to give our guys homefield advantage in Boone and minimize the homefield advantage on the road. We impact more than you think. Ask any player. They will tell you a packed home crowd is special but they love seeing a sea of Black and Gold on the road that is load and rivals the home teams when we travel as well. Between our money, noise, and attendance we can truly help these guys.

As long as they keep Roof in check and we call the defense like we did against UNC we will be just fine and can attain all of our goals.

#BeatCoastal #1-0

I completely agree.

Do I want to win the fun belt? Of course. However to continue building the football culture and recruiting base, we need to be in the top 25 consistently (and at the end of the year as you point out here).

If any of our fans ever have a desire to make an NY6 bowl, then there must be a realization that we have to be ranked early in the season for that to happen. We will never jump from unranked (even if we're receiving votes) to a position of making an NY6 game in the final week of the season. It just cannot happen.

The earlier we are ranked (any season, not just this one), the easier it is to move up as teams around us lose. It also keeps our name/image in the media, which helps in recruiting and visibility.

Now, I get the argument that "play the games one at a time and let the chips fall where they may" - that is true - App has to win games to even be considered for a ranking. But if one was to take the time to examine the whole entirety of the landscape, they would have to realize that being ranked early is of utmost importance if we are to achieve the goal we all feel that this football program is capable of, namely making an NY6 bowl.
Give 'em hell!

I’m 100% on board with the “one game at a time” mentality. The coaching staff and players better have it, otherwise Coastal is going to send their ass packing.

Buttttttt I sit on the couch and drink beer while they play. I assume we all do something similar. So we are allowed to let our minds wander a little bit haha.

The day App State is a pre-season top 25 team is when you know we’ve made it to the big time. There’s a whole lot of work in the way to get there. Just win baby.
