Re: Spring Practice Update
Found it 3rd.
It was Derek Evans dad who came on and said that no one checked on him when he was injured and in the hospital and that he didn't get along with Coach Ledford so he was transferring. The other kid was Matt Roper. His parent posted that he transferred in as a DL and wanted to play NT but that the coaches wanted him to play OL. He had never player OL before and told them he wanted to stay DL. The parent said that he was demoted to the scout team 2 weeks before the season. Parent said JM came to Roper the next day and asked him to move to OL so he could "sleep better at night". Roper said he would and then didn't play a down for the whole season. He decided after the season to leave the team to concentrate on school.
I have no idea if these stories are true or not. It's parents posting on Rivals and no one has ever confirmed anything as far as I know although Roper was listed on last year's roster as an OL. I am going to ask around about Jones and Privette as they were still on the roster as little as a month ago.

Re: Spring Practice Update
I agree. Ours is a tough program and some simply aren't fit. I just hope no one ever leaves because they feel neglected through an injury.3rd wrote:thanks for the follow up moose!! i knew it was 2 but could not remember if he was one, i hate losing players but we are not gonna be the fit for everyone, just hope it doesn't come back to hurt usfiremoose wrote:Found it 3rd.

Re: Spring Practice Update
I'm not going to take a position on Evans one way or the other since I have no proof either way. His dad is a retired Army Colonel and I don't understand why he would say what he did but to me it's hard to believe that no one would drive a couple of miles to WMC to check on him when, after Tashion Singleton was shot in Charlotte that JM and Margaret and another coach (can't remember who right off the top of my head) drove to Charlotte to visit him the first day he was allowed visitors. As with pretty much everything in life there appears to be more to the story than we know and I doubt we'll ever know the complete truth.HeffnerIV wrote:I agree. No one is perfect but I do believe our coaches care about these young men off the field.

Re: Spring Practice Update
I thought it was reported somewhere last Fall that Jerry Moore said that the Dufort thing was tied to a medication he had been taking for several years and in it was a banned substance and that appeals had failed.
Hard to say if that is true, but it seems like an appeal would have been fruitless if the substance in question was taken knowingly in order to gain an advantage.

Re: Spring Practice Update
On the Dufort note, I had heard he went to the campus infirmary got medication and it happened to be a banned substance. Just like anything else involving the NCAA it doesn't make very much sense. One of these ticky tack rules that's a gray area.
Once again not throwing anyone under the bus (except the NCAA) but that's just something I have heard.

Re: Spring Practice Update
If Dufort was given a medication at the campus infirmary that had banned substance in it then that makes me really angry. I never got anything but penicillin and cough drops at ASU infirmary.

Re: Spring Practice Update
Think about it. He made it though 3 years of college football without the medication he had been taking "for years" to be found? These guys are checked several times a year and randomly during the season. The random checks are what got Price, Lott & Barnes.sixtoes9134 wrote:I thought it was reported somewhere last Fall that Jerry Moore said that the Dufort thing was tied to a medication he had been taking for several years and in it was a banned substance and that appeals had failed.

Re: Spring Practice Update
So, Coach Moore was blatantly lying to the press?
Also, my main point was why even appeal if you are guilty? You appeal when you reason to believe that you did nothing wrong and that there is a plausible explanation.

Re: Spring Practice Update
Schools are required to do mandatory testing and report violations and actions to the NCAA. ASU takes it a step further and does random testing. These guys were busted after coming back from Christmas and Spring breaks. The only time NCAA gets directly involved is during the playoffs.app2016 wrote:Price and company were caught by the team and therefore punished with in-house game suspensions. If an athlete gets caught by the NCAA then App has nothing to do with the punishment. And im not sure about the appeal but I believe that if he would have tested negative on the next test then he could have remained on the team.
