And more importantly, why does it scare you? Tabscott and Schuller have zero game experience at this level, meanwhile we gain a transfer with P5 experience. Are you afraid they will transfer if they don't get playing time?

Re: Spring Practice
I believe the consternation is due to your phrasing of the OP. It reads as if you have knowledge that DC and Navy are not even in consideration for the starting job, whether that's the case or not I have no idea.
As to your point about Zac and Taylor being ready; they were and the coaching staff knew that while they were still relative unknowns to us. Also I believe Taylor was a redshirt freshman when he took over the starting job and Zac was a redshirt sophomore. DC is a true freshman so not quite an apples to apples argument. Finally in both of those situations I personally don't believe our program would have attracted a transfer with Brices pedigree (also this off season has produced unprecedented movement of players). With all that said I still believe the future lies with either DC or Andre(can't wait to get him on campus) and Brice is just the bridge to that.

Re: Spring Practice
I think Tabscott was part of the COVID protocols in the last couple weeks that may be limiting his participation. Wouldn’t read much into his play time right now

Re: Spring Practice
Taylor had a quality backup. In Zac’s case, we had three guys that were virtually newbies. To be honest, the coaches weren’t sold on Zac over Derick until late in the week before the game. I don’t think that it is a cause of concern that they HAD to go out and get a Grad transfer. We were able to mitigate the risks that come with starting a guy with no experience with a seasoned, capable starter.

Re: Spring Practice
I feel confident the coaching staff will start the right guy, and should that week 1 starter slip up, they will adjust and explore other options on the roster. Anything can happen in football. Hell, an injury from an unnecessary penalty from a JMU defender allowed Armanti the chance. I'm certain we wouldn't recruit Tabscott and not give him a chance.

Re: Spring Practice
Shuler can make every throw on the field. His issue is learning the college game. But, he is very cerebral and will learn it. The reason we brought in a grad transfer isn't because there isn't confidence in Shuler (or Tabscott) but more because having a senior leader thats been there in the room is important. If this were to be Zac's senior season (or Huesman stayed), we don't bring in the grad transfer.

Re: Spring Practice
Next season is a unique situation in which we have the rare privilege of having a number of really good players for an additional year. It's a good thing. It makes perfect sense to have an experienced QB at the helm. The young guys can grow and learn, and be ready for the following season, or sooner in the event of an injury. I'm sure they are mature enough to understand that it gives us a better chance to win now... and later.

Re: Spring Practice
Agree with the statement above. The guy that gives us the best chance to beat ECU will start. The next most capable will be the backup.

Re: Spring Practice
Ok i get all the above but where would we have been if Brice hadn't transferred? Im glad he's here dont get me wrong but the fact that he is here to me suggests neither Shuler nor Tabscott were ready and that is what concerned me.
