Since the 2021 Sun Belt Championship game, we are 5-10 against FBS teams. Wow...
Talk about just reading headlines...what about all the injuries, new and young players? Bro you really have the worst attitude
That is the same thing every team deals with. That’s when a really good coach shines. I’m not on the ready to fire Clark bandwagon but I live in reality. I’ll be as kind as possible and say we don’t seem to be getting better.
We must not be watching the same games...The team is in better shape, they play calling is better (its not great, but its not the vanilla predictable thing it was) & the energy is better. Sure we're not as good as the 2019 team but that was the best team we've ever had. We can't be "The Best Ever" every year
Now, I'm going to be negative. This year like last year we are 2-2 through four games. Last year we had wins against A&M and Troy and losses to Carolina and JMU. Our wins this year are GW and ECU. Last year at this point we had to terrible FCS games at home still on the schedule. Not this year. I would actually make the case that we looked better at this point last year (and DEFINITELY through 3.5 games) than we have so far this year.

Let’s see how this weekend goes before we go there. Our defense is lightyears better and our offense moves the ball against everyone. Record is the same but most of our losses last year were one score losses. We already have two of those, but think our improved defense will help get us those more often this year, even have wider margin wins.

So, is the nickname for Almost U the Mountainears?

Get it? The Mountainears?

Y’all don’t appreciate good humor. :P

I disagree...Our schedule through 4 games last year was "better" but our performance was not. Go watch our physicality and execution in the 4 games last year as compared to this year. We were slow and allowing big plays. This year we are fast, competent and executing game plans. Remove the emotion from your analysis and observe the product on the field.

I mentioned this earlier and I have more than I want to claim clemson and NC friends and that CBS production was probably one of the best I’ve seen. They all have said how big physical we look and fast!

I don’t think we’re watching different games we just have different expectations. I really hope 2019 wasn’t the best we get and I have logical reason for that hope. You said 2019 was our best year ever and I agree. That said I think we can and should be getting better. Most of the guys who made things happen on that 2019 team were recruited during our first 2 years in the FBS. All things considered we have been fantastic in the FBS. So I would expect that we could and should be recruiting much better talent than we did in 2014 and 2015. I just don’t see that progression. Or maybe we do have better talent. But if we have better talent then something else is wrong. We both agree that we’re not as good as we were in 2019.
