When 5 or so schools leave then ND isn’t joining. I don’t think they would join anyway with the ACC as is anyway.TractorApp wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:34 amI would think Tulane and Tulsa bring minimal value to the ACC, so no to them. The states of Oklahoma and Louisiana would not care any more about ACC sports if one or both of those is chosen.
The others would not come close to replacing the schools that are trying to leave, but they could be competitive long-term and could build their fan bases if they are in a new reconfigured ACC. Obviously, the best scenario is for the ACC to promise Notre Dame whatever terms are necessary to get them to commit to All-Sports membership. That would likely keep Clemson, FSU and UNC happily in the Conference because of higher TV money and prestige.

Re: ACC EXPANSION
My response to a lot of these posts..
I get it if the ACC wants to add elite universities but they have Louisville and if this other report is correct (hope not) that they’re looking at ECU or Memphis too then why not add us?
I think the Sun Belt is fun top to bottom but I could care less about the west and would prefer the matchups vs the rest of what’s left in the ACC.
Hope DG is doing what he can to help facilitate this move. Ultimately, if you’re not in the SEC, B1G and to a lesser extent, the Big 12 then it’ll be tough to compete in football but perception wise, I’d still take a move to the ACC.

Re: ACC EXPANSION
At least two maybe three NC schools won’t be in the ACC by the time their tv deal is up and you can book that.appdaze wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 2:45 pmI highly doubt a conference would add a fifth team from a single state.
I don't see us ever getting an invite to the big table at this point. Our other sports are no where close to where they need to be. Our academic research is not to the expansive level that some conferences look for. There are just a lot of reasons. I'm not going to list them all. The move from fcs to fbs was the right move to keep football alive and financially afloat. I just think we are where we are at this point and it will be a long time if ever for us to get a sniff at anything higher than Sunbelt/g5.

We’re competing but losing. Get rid of the coach. That being said, the ACC isn’t exactly looking at juggernauts

Our TV market and local HS recruiting base doesn’t work in our favor. It’s all about money so not sure what App brings other than past winning and tradition program. Both of those are fading fast.

Every university listed in the tweet has a strong research background (yes, including ECU), which is a common theme among past/current/future ACC members.

Re: ACC EXPANSION
when this inevitably goes down, 2 and probably 3 NC schools will have left. yes, UNC, NCSU and probably Duke will be gone. So why ECU? Our national ranking compared to them isn't even close.Bootsy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:31 pm^thisappdaze wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 2:45 pmI highly doubt a conference would add a fifth team from a single state.

Re: ACC EXPANSION
What does ECU bring? both of our markets are more so in charlotte, raleigh, greensboro where the alumni live or like me, out of state in a bigger city than all those. I guess you can say they're better overall in all sports. They were 147th in the Directors' Cup standings and we were 294th. Maybe they're doing more research? idk. Our overall school ranking is 100+ higher than them. If it's the research then what do we need to do to improve that?

Re: ACC EXPANSION
We did, it's just a rough year and a half but ECU, Tusla, Tulane, UAB, USF and Memphis to an extent, aren't exactly kicking down the success doors right now though at least for football which ultimately is king.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:12 pm"We aren't competing well" . We have a losing record against FBS competition in that time period.6-9 .That isn't "winning".Howard Street Hooligan wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 11:04 amWe did, it's just a rough year and a half but ECU, Tusla, Tulane, UAB, USF and Memphis to an extent, aren't exactly kicking down the success doors right now though at least for football which ultimately is king.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:12 pm"We aren't competing well" . Re: ACC EXPANSION
Would the ACC PTB be turned off because we don't have a Men's Soccer Team nor a finished T&F facility?

Re: ACC EXPANSION
Interesting take in this article:
Has App and ECU as candidates to join the ACC to keep a significant NC presence but UNC, NC State, and Duke leaving.

Re: ACC EXPANSION
Here’s the problem with thinking about the ACC. The idea of the ACC is what it it now or in recent past. As many have said, if there is an eventual day that the ACC invites App out in future it almost certainly isn’t the ACC we grew up knowing or wanted to be a part of.
That is what happened to App with CUSA in 2008-2010 era. We dearly wanted to join that CUSA and they didn’t invite us and we ended up in the SBC. As we planned and executed our move to SBC and then in following years, CUSA changed drastically and then imploded before ours eyes. I thank God many times that we didn’t go to CUSA as it would have been a disaster for us.
It would be great to be in a P conference but outside SEC and B1G who knows what it will look like in 10 yrs. The ACC has not made good moves in this race over the last 10 yrs. IMO
