We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. No doubt, and they didn't make noise one bit either even when Elon was backed up into that endzone. But, what do you expect out of a bunch of khaki-sportcoat wearing fratties? They are just there to be seen.
You sure do take shots at frat guys every chance you get. Did you get balled or would they not let you into a party?
Or maybe we went to Appalachian where, despite the fact that the Greek life is a joke by most big school standards, the fratties exercise their fundamental prerogative to be smug douche bags to everyone they meet.

I knew a few cool frat guys, sure, but there stereotype is there for a reason: There's validity to it. I mean read your response. "Did you get balled or would they not let you into a party?" Is the pretentious, daddies money attitude rushing back because of this discussion? Sounds like it.

By the way we threw parties that put every App frat party to shame when I was in school. Bro, it's totes hazing when you spill your red wine on my Vineyard Vines, bro. Not cool, bro.

It is exactly that. As a "frat guy" myself in my day my group and I stayed and cheered the whole game. Some of us wearing Vineyard Vines and all. I know it is easy to lump all greeks into this douchey group but, I know some that do not fit that mold.

All of that said, my bias says the student section was way better back in my day. :D

I don't see anything funny about a student dancing naked in front of thousands at a football game especially in those days when lots of kids were there. As I recall when they finally caught him they had to conk him one in order to subdue him. He justly deserved it. I hope he he was OK but have no real sympathy for him. BTW, it was a Boone cop and not a security officer.

I don't recall another post I made bashing fraternities. I'm just calling it like I see it though. They show up in their khakis and sport coats, and leave at the half. Those are the facts.
You seem to insinuate all frat guys participate in this behavior, which is far from a fact. Now, a gross generalization, that I would buy. There's quite a few guys on this board that do bash frat guys, never understood it.

Maybe it depends on when you were App. Anyone I know that was there from mid-90s through mid-00s has this general outlook on the frats at App.

We hung out with some TKEs during my time, but that was just drinking and working on their Jeeps was about all we saw. Most of my friends still see a frat as buying friends and doing things we would never do by our choice.

And yeah there are some that aren't bad, but it seemed the majority set the stereotype at App and it has stuck.

I'm just glad it wasn't a game I took my 6 year old (at that time) daughter to.

Man, if you had a 6 yr. old daughter in the '70's, you really are an old fart.

But, I think you may be confusing the original post with a streaker (well, he had on his BVDs) who darted through the ASU band at halftime. This was about 6 or 7 years ago - you can still find it on You Tube. He got to the other side of the field, only to be face-planted by one of Boone's finest. The policeman, as it was revealed on the MMB the next week, was a former UNC linebacker who had not forgotten his tackling skills.

But, if you really are such an old fart, never mind.

It was better back in my day too. That day being 1-5 years ago....

Glad to see Greek life at least wasn't as bad as it is today back when you were in school. Like I said though, stereotypes are stereotypes. They exist for a reason. I can name 10 or so frat guys from college that were great people. The other 90% I met were $hit heads.

Yes, I was talking about the streaker. BTW, the original poster said "naked" . I remember that time even though I wasn't there and especially about the cop being a former linebacker.
And yes, I'm old and proud of my age especially with certain health problems I've had. You may be young, but I question if you have class considering your post.

Class? Me? Nope, I've never been accused of that. Not young either. However, I do have a sense of humor.

FTR, my App undergrad is circa '83 & grad degree in '85.

And, if you read the original post REAL careful, you'll note he said "naked" and he also said "in the 1970's". Hence, my post. Do I need to explain further?

Not all, just the ones in the endzone bleachers. That's where I sat for Homecoming and they started trickling out in the second quarter.

"I can understand that, but it could still be funny."

Yeah, kids these days know way more than they should anyway. For example, a father was riding down the road with his 10-year-old daughter the other day, and a woman in a car in front of them, who had just caught her husband cheating, cut her husband's johnson off and threw it out the window. It landed on the windshield of the father's car. The little girl saw it and said, "What was that, daddy?" The father, not knowing what to say, said, "I think it was a bug."

To which the little girl replied, "Boy, that bug sure had a big d--- on him, didn't he?"

From "74-"78 streaking was very common at App, especially in the snow during "panty raids." I can remember seeing some rather prominent citizens today turning cartwheels in the snow, as they streaked through campus. I may have no class but seeing him march with the drum major as they came on the field was FUNNY!

Completely agree. We knew better than to do this when I was in High School. I think the vast majority of App fans completely understand this and behave appropriately.

As much as I would like to believe our student body is a cut above I've seen too many examples that tell me the opposite. With all the trash talking that flows over the airwaves it is little wonder people - not just students - have developed such a sorry attitude when it comes to sports. Sad to see how this behavior has, for the most part, been accepted as "normal".
