One would think that putting a hotel/conference center on the old Broyhill site would be possible and could certainly be used by all visiting teams. Since the Broyhill closed it is a real challenge to book a decent hotel in Boone (for a football weekend) and I would certainly rather give that $150-$200 a night to the university or hotel the university profits from than Marriott or a condo rental. Maybe there is not enough space or maybe the cost is too high but sure would be a nice addition to the campus.

Also, I hope we can keep the Belt together for a few years and build the conference rather than everyone wanting to jump to another G5.

I can tell you from first-hand involvement that there were legitimate, fully-capitalized, full-service hotel groups interested in that site, but couldn't get any feedback from the university. In fact, couldn't even get call back/email responses for weeks. I know things move a little slower in Boone and that's part of the culture we all love, but this seemed more like a lack of interest.

I wonder if things could be changing at ASU in regards to this topic based on the article linked below?

I would think (and I don't know if any hotels in Boone meet this or not) that a "full-service" hotel would have a ballroom, etc. large enough for a team to do a walk-though and also a banquet facility to feed 100+ people in the travelling party ---
