Don't worry about that either at least for this year coming up. Unless something unforeseen happensericsaid wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:45 pmHe was always going to come back. YC thought Cam was going to transfer out for like 3 straight years.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:41 pmJoey just announced on Twitter he's coming back and part of the 3333 collective.
The trick will be holding on to Hopper, Johnson, Favors, and probably the new linebackers App will be playing next year. Those are some DAWGS coming up in the depth chart.

Re: Keep Joey 2024 - NIL
I saw the announcement and I am pumped to hear it! Hopefully nothing changes his mind. Now we have to hope he sticks with it and can talk others like Stroman, Burger, Roberts, Noel, Hopper, Ethan, Nate Johnson, Kaedin, etc to stay as well.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:37 amNo need to hope my man. It’s all good.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:26 amJust hope you are right and I firmly believe he plans to come back as of now. I just know with the portal and pay to play anything can happen.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:15 amI said what I said. Believe it or not.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:08 amI sure hope so and he could but it is way too early to know or sure on anyone. One call from a P5 with a big money offer could change the mind of anyone on the team. I'm not willing to make definitive statements this early in this world of pay to play and the portal.

Re: Keep Joey 2024 - NIL
I'm not saying you are wrong or that there's not a chance, but here's the flip side. One year ago, Joey was finishing his second year of Juco ball. He threw for 1446 yards, with 8 TD's and 4 INT's and only played in 6 of Diablo JC's 10 games. Shawn Clark and Frank Ponce gave him a chance.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:43 amTalked to Joey yesterday. Said all the right things. I expect him back but if a $ubstantial offer comes , especially close to home, it would be hard for him to pass on. Keep in mind that we have three QBs in the roster with the talent to start somewhere. My opinion. Is it reasonable to think all will stick ?
This year, he's a Division 1 Top-20 QB surrounded by talent at the skill positions and is playing meaningful games on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC. He has one year of college eligibility left and can return to a team that should compete for a conference championship next year. He can get a full off-season of workouts in and come back for what should be a very promising Senior season.
He's a rise from obscurity player on a team that rose from disappointment midway through the season and found a way to put in together and win.
If he takes an NIL package (assuming a big offer comes his way, which is certainly a possibility), he'll make $$$. But, on the field, there's no guarantee that he'll start, he'll have to learn a new group of teammates (the third group in three years), learn how to communicate with a new coaching staff, etc.
Plus, he may not want to play closer to home. He may actually like Boone and the culture of the program (and want to opportunity to further lead this team).
We'll lose some kids every year. Some will be snatched up by P5 money at some point. Some will transfer out because they are not going to get playing time here (or their role has diminished as others have stepped in and stepped up). But, I think the isolation of Boone is good and some players actually like it. Our players typically don't have the distractions that could come with living in Charlotte, or Atlanta, or South Florida, or even southern California.
Again, you said that he's likely to stay, so this isn't necessarily a counterpoint to your post.

Re: Keep Joey 2024 - NIL
All great points! I've said it before on this board, but the likelihood that these players leave for NIL is just as high a probability as them staying.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 1:14 pmI'm not saying you are wrong or that there's not a chance, but here's the flip side. These aren't dumb kids. They'll give this some thought. And I'd bet that a lot of the realize that money comes and goes, and can be made pretty much anytime, but you might only have one chance to leave a mark- to make history- to be remembered.

For all who slammed me for starting this thread, it was warranted and it’s even sweeter to see Joey announce this from the NIL account. Keep donating. Just because you’re sitting on the sideline doesn’t mean other schools are.

Based on the timing of this tweet and some of the stuff going on at the basketball game, I suspect that another one of these types of announcements may be coming that will make ya’ll very happy.

Satire..... Joey posted a vid on Instagram saying he was coming back and had unfinished business and he was now part of the 3333 collective.

The problem from your want of an NIL deal is there are 36,000 at the same level of fan-ness.

Understood. I am more confident in him sticking than one of the other QBs. Again I hope they all stick with us but in this new world ….WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 1:14 pmI'm not saying you are wrong or that there's not a chance, but here's the flip side. Oh boy. Who all was at the game with Joey?! Wonder if they all filmed some 3333Collective content.
